A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY;

SATURDAY 2nd/MAY 2015.

The sounds of the two gas bottle delivery men got us up this morning, the sky is blue and the sun was out from early, it’s going to be very hot & sunny Manilva, again, today! The forecast into next week is for more of the same but just dropping a couple of degrees as an Atlantic front crosses Northern Spain on its way to the UK!

For breakfast this morning we had ‘Sausage Butties’ made with fresh ‘Lincolnshire Herb’ sausages from the English Butchers in Duquesa Marina on thick toasted White Bread smeared with butter & HP sauce!

This evening we are having again ‘Tournedos Rossini’ – the dish was created for the composer Gioachino Rossini by the French Master Chef Marie-Antoine Careme/ and or Auguste Escoffier of the Savoy Hotel or even Adolphe Duglere – take your choice!

My version is the classic recipe but with one difference, I wrap the Tournedos( Fillet Steak from the middle) in Smoked Bacon, it’s served on a Croute( toasted round) & topped with Pate and surrounded with a pool of a Madeira Red Wine Demi-glaze sauce. I do not have any Madeira Wine so I use a good slug of Brenda's finest Red Wine ( thanks) with Manilva Dulce Wine,a rich Beef stock and some of my famous Tomato salsa, all reduced to a Demi-glaze consistency. Finely sliced Green Beans and twice-cooked ‘Frits’ on the side.

At lunchtime ‘Scruffy’ is due back with us for the day so we will go for a walk with him later ‘Chispa’ will no doubt come calling this morning at some time.

It’s a busy sports weekend all over Europe; in ‘La Liga’ here in Spain both the main teams are down here in Andaluicia as Barcelona visit Cordoba and Real Madrid are Sevilla,in the ‘Premiere League’ over in England Liverpool are at home to QPR,Everton travel down to Aston Villa and on Sunday Manchester City are in London to play Spurs.

No Grand Prix this weekend, next week its the ‘Spanish’ Grand Prix in Barcelona, this weekend around the corner up in Jerez it’s the Motor GP; in Cycling you can take your choice as there is the ‘Tour of Yorkshire’ with Bradley Wiggins, the ‘Tour of Turkey’ with Mark Cavendish and the ‘Tour of Romandie’ ( the French part of Switzerland) with Chris Froome!

Then later this evening/early tomorrow morning over at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas it’s the Floyd Mayweather v Manny Pacquiao fight which is labeled the ‘Greatest Ever’ as they go toe to toe and punch for punch for three World Title Belts!

Just a little reminder for the ‘Queen’ & her ‘ Consort’ up the ‘North’ in Skelton to let them know that they are nor forgotten and are sadly missed, see you back in June/July in sunny Manilva.

So this evening after supper we will catch up with all the news and sports round ups on the ‘Cuatro’ channel before finding a film to watch.

PS; The Duchess of Cambridge has just given birth to a bouncing bay daughter - 8ib 3oz - mother & daughter both doing well!

Thought for the Day; See above.
