TUESDAY 5th/
MAY 2015.
I was up
early this morning to welcome little Princess ‘Reina’ back for the day, at
lunchtime ‘Scruffy’ is due back with us for a sleep over, of course ‘Chispa’
will no doubt come calling in later to see them both!
Today it’s
still a little overcast at the moment but no doubt it will pick up later as the
forecast over the next few days into the weekend is for clear blue skies and
hot sunshine, getting hotter each day!
Yesterday
evening Mario, our local Councilor called in with our invitation to the ‘Manila
Compromiso’ party’s election ‘ Bash’ down at the Duquesa Golf Club on Friday
evening, so we will make it our ‘Staff’s – Chef’s’ night out for supper later.
Later I’m
getting ready tonight’s supper “Brochettes of Marinated Pork” served on a bed
of Basmati Rice accompanied with a sauceboat of my famous Tomato Salsa and some
Diamond cut Green Beans. The ‘Brochettes’ are made with Red & Green
Peppers, Onions & Shallots, Chorizo and Baby Mushrooms.See below before going on the griddle plate!
Over night
we have made contact, been contacted, on Facebook with some old friends over in
North Wales from Llandudno; Geoff &
Sue Lofthouse,Geoff has been the General Manager of ‘The Imperial Hotel’ for
over 36 years, Douglas & Lyn Leech, Lyn has been Sales Manager at the hotel
for nearly as long! Also Ian Turner a well known & loved Llandudno
supporter over the years with his various charity works
.
Nice to be
back in touch after all these years, we have very many happy memories of our
time living in Rhyd y Foel and working in North Wales from ‘Pen-Y-Gwryd Hotel’ in
Snowdonia to the great old days at the famous ‘Hotel Seventy Degrees’ in the
late 70s.
We have now made contact with Joanna Dunton from Llandudno as her husband Alan's birthday is very close to mine and in the good old days we used to celebrate them together!! Now we have heard from Paula Yoxall and her husband Bob, who we used to work for at the 'Lancashire Manor Hotel' in Upholland,at the same time we have also made contact with Andy & Gill Ball who used to work for us as our Restaurant Manager and Conference and Banqueting Co- Ordinator at the same hotel! Its a small WORLD !!

Back to
this evening and we will be watching on TVE 1 the first leg match of the
‘Champions League’ as Juventus welcome Real Madrid, tomorrow night its
Barcelona v ‘Pep’s’ Bayern Munich.
Last night
after supper we watched a good film on TVE 2 ( like BBC 2) “ Margin Call” from
2011 with an ensemble cast of Jereny Irons,Kevin Spacey,Paul Bettany,Zachary
Quint,Simon Baker, Stanley Tucci and Demi Moore – about a major financial
crisis at a Wall Street investment company – very gripping with lots of
intrigue and in-fighting !
