A VERY HOT AND SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY;

SUNDAY 3^rd/ MAY 2015.   “ MOTHER’S DAY – SPAIN ”

We had a long lie in this morning, not planned, as the village was so quiet, we then had our usual breakfast before getting the day on the go, I made the ‘Boulangere’ Potatoes for this evening supper and Brenda shot upstairs after peeling the potatoes ( Thanks)! to shampoo her hair, shower & freshen up, I will do the same later.

The sun was out early this morning and the sky is blue, there is no breeze so it’s going to be a hot one today here in sunny Manilva and down on the ‘Costa Del Sol’- 31/33degs! See below a 'Taste' of Andalucia;The 'Espeto de Sardinas' in salt cooked over open wood fires!

Next week is also staying fine & sunny if not just a little cooler, Northern Spain has rain storms and wind from the Atlantic front on its way to the UK – you have been warned!

Here in Spain today it’s ‘Mother’s Day’ and also at this time of the year there are lots of first communions with all the families in the village, they make it a big occasion, a time to celebrate, with large parties in the bars/local restaurants, yesterday Calle Mar was closed as there was a large party in Café Plaza with a bouncy castle outside!

At lunchtime we went for a short walk with 'Chispa' and ended up back at Bar Rojas where we had some Tapas & Paella,Mano & Anna came along and joined us,so we had a good gossip and catch up sat under the 'Sonbrajo' in the hot sunshine.

We are having with the ‘Boulangere’ potatoes ‘New Zealand Lamb Cutlets’ that I bought from ‘Mercadona’ of all places, with out realizing that they were not Spanish! I have marinated them in Virgin Olive Oil & Rosemary, I will grill them and then finish them in the over on top of the potatoes, the Vegetable Chef is preparing a ‘Bouquetire’ of vegetables, Garden Peas, Baby Carrots, Broad Beans & Cauliflower florets. Brenda is also making some fresh ‘Mint Sauce’ as one of our neighbors passed some in yesterday!

The results from yesterdays sport; Liverpool won 2-1 Everton lost again 3-2 – meanwhile over here Real Madrid just managed a win 2-3 in Savilla with another Ronaldo hat trick but the result of the day was Barcelona’s win in Cordoba 0-8 with Suarez’s first hat trick for the club! Oh and yes Floyd Mayweather had a well deserved win on points over in Las Vegas!!

Last night after supper we settled down to watch on ‘TVE ‘ so no adverts, “ Million Dollar Baby” from 2004 – the film won four ‘Oscars’ as Clint Eastwood produced,directed,scored and had the main part in the movie, Morgan Freeman & Hilary Swank are also excellent – get your hankies ready!
