A WARM AND SUNNY MANILVA ON "EASTER SATURDAY"

SATURDAY 4th/ APRIL 2015           “EASTER SATURDAY”

We all had a nice lie in this morning after yesterdays excitement “ Manilva Style’ I slipped out with ‘Reina’ for her first walk of the day and when I came back there was nice surprise breakfast waiting for me on the table “ A ‘Poor Man’s’ Eggs Benedict ” made with local ‘York Ham & Campo Eggs’! No 'Bearnaise'! See the picture below;

The sun is out and the sky is blue, there is no breeze and it’s going to be another fine day here in sunny Manilva, the temperature s reaching 22 degs later; its forecast to be the same tomorrow before some of the wet stuff hits us on Monday & Tuesday; which means that it will be OK for the two processions at lunchtime on Sunday, today there are no parades just a long Mass and Vigual down in the church.

Last night we sat outside Bar Rojas with Den & Josie to take in the sights and sounds of the two processions as they merged together in front of us; this is the one when the ladies of the village dress up in their finest Black outfits with the traditional “ Mantillas’ in the hair.

As you can see in the picture below; the first lady is our friend Valentina who works in the ‘Foreign Residents Department’ and comes from Romania, then its Marta from the bottom of our street, we have seen her grow up, on Sunday & Thursday she was the lead ‘Clarinetist’ in the village band, at the front on the right! Then next its her Aunty, Anna, who is the wife of Mario our local Councilor, from around the corner. Their son ‘Mario’ who was 15 yesterday is carrying the ‘Trono’ for the first time is in one of the pictures and finally Paco, who is Manolo & Lumy’s youngest son is in the picture with the only lady police women in the local Police and the following close up!There is also a picture of the first Lady to carry a 'Trono' in the village. That’s Manilva life in a nutshell!!

We then after breakfast made our special “ Manilva Dulce Trifle” in our new Trifle Bowl using the finest ‘Valencia’ sponge soaked in the local wine, Strawberry Jam, diced Peaches & Strawberries, the Brenda makes the Strawberry Jelly and Custard, and I will finish it tomorrow with whipped double cream and grated Chocolate! Watch out for the picture and our new Silver Spoon!

This evening for supper we are having my version of “ Tournedos Rossini ” served on a toasted ‘Crute’ – the Fillets are wrapped in Smoked Bacon, then seared and finished in the oven ‘Med- Rare’ They are topped with a ‘Quenelle’ of the finest Iberian Pate and then served on a pool of my rich Tomato Salsa which is infused with the local wine! Finely sliced Green Beans,fresh local Asparagus spears & twice-cooked ‘Frits’ to accompany the ‘Banquet’!

‘Reina’ is being picked up this afternoon after Lee & Daniela return from Conil on the Costa de Luz' below Cadiz; they have been flying in a friends 'Gyrocopter' See the picture below. I'm very envious! I once went up n a 'Microlite' over Lanzarote! ‘Scruffy is due at lunchtime for a sleep over until tomorrow morning, then ‘Reina’ is back with us for a few hours.

Its back to normal this weekend in the football; over in the ‘Premiere League’ Arsenal welcome Liverpool and Everton welcome Southampton, then on Monday Manchester City travel down to Crystal Palace. Over here in La Lig’ on Sunday Real Madrid are at home to Granada and Barcelona have to travel to Celta De Vigo. No Motor sport this weekend.

So we have a nice easy day here in sunny Manilva,relaxing and taking things as they come, after supper we will watch the football round up on the ‘Cuatro’ channel before finding a film to watch.

PS; The final wall on the 'Roman Pottery Urn' has been finished today with a Town Plan - see below;

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
