A VERY WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON ' EASTER SUNDAY'

SUNDAY 5th/ APRIL 2015.                          “EASTER SUNDAY”

I took ‘Scruffy’ out for his early morning walk, he’s such a character, he has slept on our bed, in his bed and on the floor, ate everything we have given him and he’s a delight to have here with us. He was picked up later in the morning, he’s back with us on Friday for a few hours ‘Reina’ was dropped off for a few hours just after lunch, and she’s back on Tuesday & Thursday.

We were up early this morning as we had to get the ‘State Banquet’ ready for this evenings visit of the ‘Queen’ and her ‘Consort’ We grabbed a quick breakfast and then got things on the go;  “Roast Crown of Turkey” with a savory Mixed Herb Stuffing and of course my famous finger licking Pan Gravy. The ‘Pigs in Blanket’ are made with local Lincolnshire Sausages wrapped in Smoked Bacon. At the request of the 'Queen' lots of Homemade Bread Sauce will be served!

The Vegetable Chef has prepared Cauliflower Floret’s in a three Cheese sauce, Baby Brussels Sprouts with Smoked Bacon snippets, Crushed Baby Carrots & Turnips, fingers of Parsnips in local Honey, Garden Peas and our famous Goose Fat Roast Potatoes, We are having a platter of assorted light Tapas to start and the dessert is of course our jointly made “Manilva Wine Trifle”  Fine wines to choice and Cava ‘Royal’ to start.

We then got ourselves ready and shot up to ‘Bar Rojas’ in time to watch the processions later; Josie & Den came along and joined us, then Mano & Anna stopped for a short chat.Later we had some of Lumy’s famous Paella.

The sun is out and the sky is blue, by lunchtime it was hot, which is a ‘Miracle’ as the forecast was for the rain to start early today and then for the next three days more of the same and a little colder! Watch this space.

The ‘Procesion Del Santismo Christo Rescucitado Y La Stma,Virgen Del Rosario A.M.D.G. arrived on time, they meet in the centre of the village later when they are both raised shoulder high to the adoring villagers; as usual the parade is led by the Manilva Brass Band with all the village dignitaries led by the Mayor, Diego. See all the picture above.

Now for something rather special that happed to me at the height of the celebrations after the two Trono’s met, Padre ‘Antonio’ blessed me then formally presented with an honoree Medallion of the ‘ Ntro.Padre Jesus Nazareno’ Manilva Brotherhood!  I’m the very first English man to receive the honor and what makes it even more unprecedented is that I’m the only Protestant in the village!!

As I walked back along Calle Mar everybody was coming up and congratulating me, Antoina, the Ex-Mayor was there and made big fuss as well as the Mayor, Diego and all of the Councilors All our neighbors seem particularly pleased and commented that it is a great honor.

Arise ‘Sir Malcolm Sexton’ of sunny Manilva.
