A STILL OVERCAST & DAMP SATURDAY IN SUNNY MANILVA ON " GRAND NATIONAL SATURDAY"

SATURDAY 11th/ APRIL 2015.            “GRAND NATIONAL SATURDAY”

We had a nice lie in this morning and then the ‘Breakfast Chef’ using her 4th hat (Asssitant, Vegetable &Pastry)! produced ‘Campo’ Poached Eggs on Toast with a mug of steaming Tea! It’s still overcast and grey this morning with the threat of rain in the air but then the forecast is for the fine weather to return tomorrow and into next week.See the 'NASA' picture of Spain below;

We then picked Den & Josie up from outside their apartment and dropped them down at the bus stop in Sabinillas to catch the bus to Fuengirola where they then transfer to the new Metro into the center of Malaga by their hotel next to the ‘Picasso Museum’See the picture below;

We had a lovely ‘Farewell Supper’ last night, to start we had some fresh local Asparagus spears with Béarnaise sauce, Semi-Curado Cheese & Broad Bean Frittata, the main course was a ‘Seafood Risotto’ with two sorts of Rice,Peas,Peppers,Cod,Prawns,Gambas, Octapus,Mussels,Crab and all sorts of bits & pieces, accompanied with steamed Broccoli florets; the dessert was Brenda’s special ‘Exotic Fresh Fruit Salad’ seeped in Orange juice with Cointreau,Den’s served with a rich Chocolate Mousse ( he’s a choco’holic)! Coffee & Liqueurs with fine Chocolate Petit Fours to finish!

See the picture below of the “ Chefs Table ” at the ‘Casa de Sexton’ “ Pop Up” restaurant; bookings are being taken for the coming months, book early to avoid disappointment!

This evening’s supper is one of my classics from the past “ Steak au Poivre ” using Entrecote steak with finely sliced Green Beans and of course twice-cooked ‘Frits’ Tomorrows ‘Roast of  the Day’ is going to be ‘Topside of English Beef’ with Yorkshire Puddings, a ‘Bouquetire’ of fresh local vegetables along with Goose Fat Roast Potatoes and finger licking Gravy!

It’s a busy weekend of sport with the ‘Premiere League’ over in England as Everton travel down to Swansea then on Sunday it’s the Manchester ‘Derby’ game when Manchester Utd welcome Manchester City and finally on Monday Liverpool welcome Newcastle; over here in ‘La Liga’ Real Madrid welcome Eibar and Barcelona are up in Sevilla.

Lewis Hamilton has just taken the pole position in the ‘Chinese Grand Prix’ and it’s the Motor GP ‘Americas’ in Austin Texas. Of course this afternoon we will be watching the ‘Grand National’ from Aintree as AP McCoy tries to brake the bookies hearts( £50m) and win his second ‘Grand National riding the favorite “Shutthefrontdoor” - if he does he has said that he will retire there & then – if he does the crowd will go mad! Come on ‘Tony’!!

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
