A WARM AND SUNNY MANILVA ON " MOTHERING " SUNDAY;

SUNDAY 15th/MARCH 2015.  “ MOTHER’S DAY ”

Nan Horsley,Jane's mum and our 'Adopted Mum' for over 45 years when I went to work for her beloved husband Bert at the 'Bridge Inn' in Port Sunlight - the rest is history ! She is 96 years young later this year !!

We finally had a nice long lie in this morning along with ‘Reina’ in her own duvet across the foot of the bed; it’s another fabulous day here in sunny Manilva, the sky is bright blue, the sun is out and there is no breeze, the forecast for next week has changed a little as after tomorrow, when its fine, sadly on Tuesday and more importantly on Wednesday we have some of the wet and cold stuff threatening to hit us as a cold and wet front comes in off the Atlantic!

See the pictures below of ' Calle San Vincente' - " Antes - Ahora" from the 'Manilva en el Recuerdo' page of old photographs of the village and people,

Its one of our taking it easy days today with nothing to do just taking things easy, we might go for a drive along the coast later - all the bars and restaurants will of course be busy for ‘Mother’s Day’ - so we will just take in the views across the sparkling Mediterranean towards Gibraltar and across to Africa.

At lunchtime we went for a drive along the coast road to Algerciras to check out the 'Media Mart' computer hypermarket, we will call back tomorrow when its open! In the 'Plaza de la Vendima' they have started to put up the pictures on the 'Roman Pottery Ovens' with so far no mention of them?! See the pictures above. On the way back we called into the 'Seaside 'Grill and Bar'for a drink,its in a spectacular setting as you can see!

Its shower time later and then find something to wear for today, we are also planning to meet up with Joyce on Wednesday for lunch so will now have to go somewhere to sit inside due to the inclement weather forecast!

Then on Friday evening we are going down to Sabinillas to the launch party for the new “ Compromiso Manilva” party, its taking place at the ‘Restaurante Meson El Molino’ which is a famous underground ‘Fandango/Flamenco’ spot which we have not been to before, the invitation was dropped off yesterday!

All the local parties ‘ PSOE ( Labour) PP ( Conservative ) ASM ( Independent) etc are now in full election mode for the upcoming elections which are not until May! The new party in the country has just opened over this weekend an office,as you can see blow - its called 'Podemos' and is an ultra -left wing independent party!!They invited me in and I had a quick Manilva Dulce wine with them!!

It’s promising to be a little different than normal, with all the changes that have taken place within the various parties, there have been some abidications,re-selections and just this week some politically motivated sackings, along with fresh allegations of cronyism and corruption with the currant ruling party being investigated by the Police,Guadia Civil and the local Magistrates – its all happening in quiet old sunny Manilva!! Watch this space.

So back to the more important things in life, tonight’s supper! We are not roasting today, so we are having one of our old favorites of ‘Escalope of Turkey Breast’ cooked in foaming Lemon Butter and served with my special savory Basmati Rice with finely sliced Green Beans and a sauceboat of my creamy Mushroom sauce. “ Yummy”!

Just a quick update on the sports results; City lost at Burnley 1-0 - Barcelona won 0-2 ( Messi) – in a gripping game of Rugby Wales beat Ireland 23-16 and England beat Scotland 25-13 in a infuriating/inconsistent game and over in Australia Lewis Hamilton lead from start to finish in an easy win. Everton have just beaten Newcastle 3-0 !!!

This evening after supper we will channel hop and try and find a good film to watch.

Taken this morning in North Wales !

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
