A WARM AND SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND;

FRIDAY 27th/ MARCH 2015.              “ NATIONAL DAY OF MOURNING ”

We were up bright and early this morning and after a quick breakfast we shot out on our travels; we went down to the local market by the sports complex for the fresh flowers. It was then time to go down through the vine fields to Sabinillas, we called into the bank and then picked up the local English papers before calling into the Chinese Bazaar for some picture frames and a new Ironing Board Cover, as it gets a lot of use, so Brenda tells me!

It was then our main shop in ‘Mercadona’ before going along to the English butchers in Puerto de la Duquesa,its fatal calling into the shop as we can’t resist buying some extra goodies! We bought some assorted freshly made Sausages for Easter Sunday’s roast as we are planning to have ‘Roast Turkey’ with all the trimmings; on the list was Gammon Steaks so we also bought a small Gammon Joint for boiling, then I saw a well hung joint of ‘Topside of Beef ‘which I couldn’t resist!  PS’ Don’t forget the Hot X Buns !!

Today its bright and sunny with clear blue skies and its going to be like this up to next Easter Sunday at least which means the ‘Semana Santa’ week is going to be even more special this year thanks to the fine weather; it all kick’s of this Sunday with the ‘Palm Sunday Mass’ in the church and then the first procession with the ‘La Borriquita’ through the streets of Sunny Manilva!

So after posting the Blog I’m getting ready tonight’s supper “ Poached Cushions of Hake Fillet in a Duglere Sauce ” with Garden Peas & Parsley New Potatoes; I make our favorite fish sauce with a White Wine reduction, sliced Shallots,’Concasse’ of Tomatoes, a good fish stock, lots of finely chopped Parsley, and a touch of double cream to finish! See below;

'Chispa; is here to we are just about to go for a nice walk in the warm sunshine

After supper this evening we will watch the ‘International Football’ as Spain play Ukraine and then catch the high lights of England v Lithuania.
