A VERY SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY;

SUNDAY 25th/ JANUARY 2015.

No lie in this morning as we have a busy day ahead preparing for the ‘State Banquet’ this evening when the ‘Queen of Skelton’ is honoring us with a visit, taking time off from her very busy schedule here in sunny Manilva, she is due to return home next Friday into the ‘arms’ of her consort! (He’s running out of ‘Fish Paste’ sandwiches!)

Today is even warmer than yesterday with the sun out early and the skies blue from early this morning, it was a red sky first thing; next week is looking good with the weather more settled and getting a little warmer.

I took ‘Scruffy’ out first thing and then he was picked up by Adrian, he’s back on Tuesday & Wednesday for the day ‘Reina’ is with us on Tuesday & Friday here in ‘Doggy World Heaven’ ‘Chispa’ has been here all morning and Brenda has just taken her for a short walk along Calle Mar,

We had a quick breakfast and then got things on the go in the kitchen; “Roast Leg of New Zealand Lamb” finished on ‘Boulangere’ Potatoes and garnished with a turned Goose Fat Roast Potato, a rich finger licking pan gravy on the side. See the before and after pictures below of the Roast Leg of Lamb.

From the ‘Vegetable Chef’ who has excelled herself this morning, we are offering, Florets of Cauliflower in a three Cheese sauce, Glazed Carrot Batons, Brussels Sprouts with Smoked Bacon Sippits, Braised whole Baby Onions, Wilted Alselgas and Garden Peas. See the picture below in the vegetable kitchen.

To start with we are having a small platter of Boquerones,Sardina ( Anchovy) a Banderillas of assorted Olives and small diced Smoked Salmon & Queso ( Feta ) with crusty local Bread – as you can see in the picture below!

The ‘surprise’ dessert which was started yesterday will be finished this evening; watch for the picture later! It was of course our famous 'Trifle' - made with the finest 'Verona' sponge soaked in 'Dulce' Manilva wine, Peaches & Strawberries, Jam,Custard and topped with whipped Cream !

A fine selection of Red (Rioja) and White (Barbadillo) will be offered with the main course by the ‘House Sommelier’ with to start ‘Cocktails’ on arrival, a fine ‘Pudding Wine’ will accompany the sweet.

After getting the 'Banquet ' ready I took the staff out for a Tapas( Paella) lunch and a cool drink up at Bar Rojas, we sat under the 'Sonbrajo' in the very hot sunshine taking in the sights & sounds of sunny Manilva.

The football yesterday had some surprise results over in England in the ‘FA Cup’ as Manchester City lost 0-2 to Middlesbrough and Liverpool could only draw at home 0-0 with Bolton – the big surprise was Chelsea loosing at home to 2-4 to Bradford! Over here in ‘La Liga’ Real Madrid just beat Cordaba 1-2 but Barcelona won 0-6 at Elche!

See below a picture of the church today taken from the village Library window!
