A CRISP AND SUNNY MANILVA ON WEDNESDAY;

WEDNESDAY 14th JANUARY 2015.

No lie in this morning as first ‘Charlie’ and then the gas bottle delivery man woke us up; after our usual breakfast of fresh fruit, toast & tea Brenda went and hung out the washing up on the roof terrace as its starting to look like a good drying day here in sunny Manilva although there is no breeze today.

The forecast is staying the same, at the moment, but there is a little of wet stuff around possible on Friday when the cold front takes effect, the weekend is cold but clear with the sun around!

Meanwhile downstairs in the kitchen I was making tonight’s supper of the old classic “Beef Bourguignon” to my own recipe; I brown-off the diced Beef in seasoned flour and then also the whole Shallots & Smoked Bacon sippits, I then sweat-off some finely diced Onions,Garlic,Leeks,Celery and Carrots, add some secret ingredients and a large slug of Red Wine, the better the wine, the better the stew!

Then all the main ingredients are added including whole Button Mushrooms and a rich Beef & Vegetable stock, I adjust the consistency and seasoning and leave it on a low light to cook, under the supervision of the assistant Head Chef! The aromas are wafting upstairs to the office and up the street as I’m. typing the Blog!! See the pictures below of our supper this evening which I have to say was 'delicious'!

‘Chispa’ has just come calling and is looking for one of her friends to play with, sadly ‘Scruffy’ who was due at lunchtime for a sleep over and then all tomorrow is not joining us as Adrian is at home,off work with a bad chest and ‘Reina’ is back with us on Thursday

We went for a short walk at lunchtime with 'Chispa' along Calle Mar to pick up some fresh bread and top up a mobile phone for our Swedish friend Lillemor, she left the money before she left for Gotenberg.so as when she returns she can use it.

With the “ Beef Bourguignon” this evening we are having fresh local Carrots cut into batons, finely sliced Green Beans and just a few Baby New Potatoes in their skins, we will then try to find something to watch,last night it was a rather good film “ The Brave One ” from 2007 starring in the title role Jodie Foster with Terrance Howard in a psychological thriller based in New York.

PS; The 'Euro' has just gone up to its highest against the pound in the last three years" Shame as we have no Pensions arriving in until a week on Monday!!

Thoughts for the Day See above.
