A ' CRISP ' & SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY.

SUNDAY 3rd/NOVEMBER 2019.

We overslept this morning as the village was quieter than normal, after freshening up Brenda took ‘ Sunny’ out for her first walk of the day, she’s due to be collected later today, we are waiting to hear when?! We are going to miss her as she such good company and a real character, she’s back with us for shorter holiday at the start of December, tomorrow morning little ‘ Miss Bella’ is back with us in ‘ Doggy World Heaven’ for the day, as well as on Tuesday.

PS; ‘Sunny’ is being picked up by Simone at 2-30 pm!

Yesterday the forecasted  ‘ Wet-Stuff ’ was blown away by the stiff breeze, overnight it’s also moved the cold/wet ‘ Atlantic’ front on, so this morning it’s dry and sunny, with a few patchy clouds hanging around, the breeze is keeping it ‘ crisp’ in the shade, by lunchtime it’s due to reach 22 degs+

See below ‘ Calle Mar ‘ this morning.

Next week is now looking more settled, staying dry, with patchy clouds as well as sunshine, hovering in the low 20s/high‘ teens’ – overnight going a lot cooler, down to 10/11 degs at times, by next weekend, the chance of the ‘ Wet-Stuff’ will be back in the air, watch this space.

After a quick breakfast we got the evenings supper on the go; “ Roast Leg of English Lamb’ – I studded the Lamb with Garlic cloves and rubbed it all over with Sea Salt & Rosemary, I then placed it on a bed of Mixed Vegetable ‘Trivets’ in the roasting tray and put it into a very hot oven, basting it all the time.

See below as it came out of the oven!

And after carving !

I then prepared my famous ‘Boulangere’ Potatoes ( Malcolm’s Potatoes in Canada!) – layers(3) of sliced Onions & Potatoes ( hand-cut) - each layer thinner, seasoned with Black & White Pepper, then a rich Meat & Vegetable Stock is added, the large dish is sealed in ‘tin-foil’ ready to go in the oven this evening, half-way into the cooking, it’s taken off and knobs of Butter are dotted on the top, to crisp-up the top layer of the Potatoes!

See below the finished dish !

Meanwhile the ‘ Second Chef’ was preparing the ‘Broccoli & Cauliflower  Florets in the three-Cheese sauce, Crushed Carrots & Turnips, Creamed Baby Leeks and Garden Peas’ – before making the savoury ‘Mint Sauce’ ( sugar and wine vinegar )

Just a quick update on the sports results; Liverpool won 1-2 & Manchester City also won 2-1 – over here Real Madrid could only manage a 0-0 draw & Barcelona lost 3-1 to lowly Levante!

Over in Liverpool yesterday the cruise liner “ Magellan “ was berthed at the Pier Head, in Liverpool, for the day, she below a pictures of her in the evening before she set sail!

Last night after supper we settled down to watch the next two ‘ back to back’ episodes of the ‘ French’ police/crime drama, based in Paris, “ Spiral 7 “ over on ‘ BBC Four ‘ – as the two main Detectives – played by Thierry Godard ( Escoffier) & Caroline Proust( Berthaud) – fight corruption, in the Police, a ‘Gay’ Judge and the Chinese gangs, after their Boss was murdered in a ‘gang-land’ shooting! There are also sub-plots that are coming together at the same time, the  ‘Sub-Titles’ come fast! Catch it if you can!!

PS; While I have been typing/posting today's Blog, I was listening to the 'Pete Black Retro Roadshow' on " Castle Radio FM 89.2 & Online on the WWW " as this week's Film Quiz' came on, I got it straight away, it was " The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings "  - so we are in the monthly draw, again, for the ' Mug' for ' Lady' Brenda !

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
