A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY.

SUNDAY 14th/ JULY 2019.

We managed another nice long lie in this morning before the Church Bell started ringing, calling the faithful to ‘ Mass’! After freshening up, Brenda is washing/shampooing her hair later, I was on the breakfast rots so we had my famous ‘ Toasted Crispy Smoked Bacon Butties’ – smothered in ‘ HP’ Brown sauce, open on brown for Brenda, with fresh fruit ( Nectarines) and mugs of strong/hot tea.

Overnight the breeze picked up, it rattled all the shutters, this morning it’s dropped and the sun broke through earlier, the sky is cloudless & blue, so by lunchtime it’s due to reach 32 degs+ - the start of next week is looking the same, in the low 30s, then by mid-week, as the breeze picks up again, its dropping down to the high 20s, overnight around 20/21 degs – then by next weekend and into following week it’s going to back into the low 30s, watch this space.

In ‘ Doggy World Heaven ‘ next week we now have only‘ Scruffy’ with us for five afternoons, from Monday to Friday, as little ‘ Miss Bella’ has cancelled this week, for Monday/Tuesday, as the folks have friends over from Abergele, North Wales, on holiday, she will be back next week, ‘Chispa’ will be calling in, as usual.

On Tuesday it’s the “ Virgen del Carmen “ fisherman’s festival, starting in ‘ Castillo de la Duquesa’ ( the old port) and then the procession along to  the ‘Puerto de la Duquesa Marina’ ( the new port) – where they transfer the ‘ Tronos-Tableau’ to a fishing boat, to be blessed out at sea, this weekend it’s been the annual ‘ Feria’ over the past three days in ‘Castillo de la Duquesa’ – which has been rocking! Our ‘ Feria’ here in sunny Manilva is on the weekend of 26TH/ 28th July! Watch this space.

                                                                                      Last year !

While Iv'e been typing/posting today's Blog I have been listening to the 'Pete Black Retro Roadshow' on ' Castle Radio FM 89.2 & Online on the WWW' - as the ' Movie Quiz' came on, 'Lady' Brenda got it, straight away, it was ' Glenn Close & Michael Douglas in " Fatal Attraction " - she's in the draw for the month's 'Mug'!

On the sports front this weekend; the Tennis, at Wimbledon, Simona Halep, played the match of her life and beat Serena Williams  6-2-6-2! – in the ‘Ladies’ Final, this afternoon it’s Federer v Djokovic in the ‘Men’s’ Final.

At the ‘ British Grand Prix’ -Mercedes took the first two spots on the grid, again, but Valtteri Bottas is on Pole, ahead of Lewis Hamilton, by 0.006 seconds!

The ‘Cricket’ World Cup is just to about start, New Zealand are batting first, over in the ‘ Tour de France’ today’s ‘ Stage 9 ‘ goes from Saint Etienne to Brioude, over 218 kms, another hilly stage.

Over in Liverpool yesterday the cruise liner “ Celebrity Reflection “ was berthed at the Pier Head, for the day, before setting off, out to sea, out of the River Mersey, at dusk.

This evening for our supper we are keeping it as simple as possible; we are having ‘ Grilled Lamb Cutlets’ – marinated with Rosemary & Lemon Juice, then ‘flash-cooked’ on a very hot griddle-plate, left to rest, accompanied with lots of ‘Mint Sauce’ – with whole ‘ French’ Green Beans & Carrot Batons, with Baby Parsley New Potatoes in their skins.

Last night we watched the next exciting episode of “ Killing Eve “ – just one killing this week, as a ‘Minder’ was pushed under a bus! This evening it’s the first episode of the last series of “ Poldark “ ?!

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
