We managed a little in this morning as the
village, as usual, now, is very quiet, while we were freshening up we were
listening to the ‘ Breakfast Show’ with Andrew Charles, on ‘Castle Radio FM
89.2 & Online on the WWW’ – the music quiz came on, for the first time this
week, a one second flash - ‘Lady’ Brenda got it straight away – “ Acker Bilk “ –
‘ Strangers on the Shore ‘! – so she got a mention, live on air, as well as ‘
Sir’ Malcolm who agreed!!
We had our usual light breakfast of
toast & tea as we sorted our week ahead out, tomorrow morning I have my
blood test appointment down at the main ‘ Medical Centre ‘ in Sabinillas, then
later on Friday morning Brenda has her appointment with our Doctor, Natalia, or
her assistant, for her review/check up, so I’m going to do the weekly shopping
at the same time.
On the menu front, this evening I’m
adding to last night’s ‘Lancashire Hotpot’ – the rest of the ‘Lamb Chops’ with more sliced
potatoes & vegetables - which tomorrow lunchtime I make into a delicious ‘
Vegetables Soup’ after blitzing!
On Tuesday evening it’s going be ‘Escalope’s
of Chicken Fillet’- then on Wednesday morning I’m am making a large pan of ‘
Beef & Vegetable Stew’ which will become ‘ Scouse’ on Thursday, after
adding more Potatoes! It always tastes better on the second day, in the
original recipe only ‘Neck of Lamb’ was used, or none at all, as in ‘ Blind
Scouse’!! Friday is ‘Chippy Night’ and
on Saturday ‘ Steak Night’ – then finally on Sunday we will be ‘ Roasting’ –
TBC.
In ‘ Doggy World Heaven ‘ this week we
have no guests, so far, ‘Chispa’ is in & out all the time, looking for her
friends, over the weekend we were asked if we could look after a ‘King Charles
Cavalier’ – ‘Winston’ after being recommended on ‘Facebook’ etc, sadly we coudn’t
fit him in, nearer to Christmas, as we already have ‘ Chico’ back with us for
two weeks over Xmas/New Year, as well as ‘Charlie’ for his usual ‘Xmas’
Holiday, this year for over 3 weeks! At the start of December little ‘ Scoobie’
is back with us for a week, around about the same time as little ‘Prince Paddy’
is joining us for week also!
After yesterday, which was a beautiful
warm & sunny day, here in sunny Manilva, in fact it was so nice we went for
a walk around the village in the afternoon and ended up back at ‘ Bar Rojas’
for a cool drink, taking in the warm sunshine! This morning has started the
same, the ‘wet-stuff’ that was forecast, as gone away, until over the coming
weekend, there is just a very light breeze, by lunchtime it’s due to reach 18
degs+ - getting warmer on the next few days, in the low 20s, next week, at the
moment, is looking a little unsettled, with the ‘ wet-stuff’ back as well as
clouds, at times, going a little cooler also, watch this space.
See below the beach front down in
Sabinillas this morning with the local fishing boats out.
Yesterday morning we were able to watch
the ‘Remembrance Sunday ‘ from the Cenotaph in London, which was more special
than normal as it was 100 years to the day since Armistice, the most moving
moment for us is when the Massed bands play ‘ Elgar’s Enigma Variations Nimrod ‘
– before the two minutes silence, the late Autumn weather was perfect, then later,
all over the UK and around the World, the ‘ Church Bells’ all at the time same
time, rang out, as they did, one hundred years ago.
This year there was also a ‘Peoples Procession’
as ten thousand people walked, past the Cenotaph, to say a ‘Nation’s Thank You’
– meanwhile on 30 beaches around the UK local Artists used stencils and rakes
to sculpt onto the beaches images of those lives lost, covering a range of ranks
& regiments ‘Pages of the Sea’ - later, these portraits were washed away by the
tide, very moving.
See one below, there was one on the
beach over in Old Colwyn, North Wales! ( see our ‘Facebook’ page)
On Saturday evening at the ‘Festival of
Remembrance’ at the Royal Albert Hall, everybody, at one moment, held up
pictures of their deceased family & relatives lost in the ‘ Great War’ and
all the other conflictives & wars around the World, also very moving.
Last night after supper we caught the
next exciting episode of “ The Little Drummer Girl’ as the plot thickened, as
the ‘Mossad’ agents got even nastier, in their hunt for the bomber/killers,
there was even a ‘Cameo’ appearance of John Le Carre as a waiter! Watch this
space.
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
