A VERY HOT AND SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEK;

MONDAY 7th/JULY 2014.

We all had a good lie in this morning before we got up to face another week down here in sunny Manilva of sun,sand,drinking and eating – it’s a hard life but somebody has to do it! This morning its hot and sunny with just a little breeze, in fact its perfect. Andy called in and has just taken Brian out for breakfast up to ‘Nacho’s Bar’ – with a large measure of Brandy to help things along!

After our breakfast ( no Brandy!) we had our weekly planning meeting for the menu’s, arrangements and the finances – I then went around to the butchers for some ‘Albondigas – Meatballs’ for tomorrow nights supper but he is only just making them so I will call back, he gave me some Chicken Wings ( Free ) as on Thursday we are having them with salad, tonight its ‘Steak a la Plancha’ with Baked potatoes, on Wednesday we are out for lunch around at Den & Josie’s roof top apartment, then on Friday its going to be ‘Hake Fillets a la Meuniere’

Meanwhile here in “ Doggy World Heaven ” tomorrow we are having for the first time ‘Reina’the miniature ‘Dachshund’ for the day as her Mum, Daniela is going for a wedding dress fitting, on Friday ‘Scruffy’ is back for a sleep-over and at the moment’Chispa is playing around my feet as I’ am typing the Blog.

Brenda is taking things as easy as possible for her and gets her feet up and rests at every chance, she still has a long way to go before she will be back out walking around the village; she is into her new tablet routine and is now sleeping better despite the heat through the night.

Today over in England it’s the 3rd stage of ‘Le Tour De France’ from Cambridge to London with the finish outside Buckingham Palace, it would have been a perfect stage for a Mark Cavendish ‘Win’ but sadly his Tour is over for this year. Tomorrow 4th stage is on the French roads for the first time when it goes from our favourite place on the Channel coast and where we started our travels all those years ago ‘ Le Touquet- Paris- Plage’ to Lille Metropole.

The winner today was the German rider Kittel,his second stage win after Saturdays first stage; they have just showed a pro-mo video which I just watched again showing Chris Froome riding through the 50kms of the 'Eurotunnel' as the whole tour transfer's across to France, to become the first man to do so! It reminds me that my dad 'Tommy' Sexton was the first man ever to ride under the River Mersey through the first tunnel before the War!!

At the time it was the longest underwater tunnel in the world,it was opened by the King George V and named " Queensway " on the 18th July 1934 - my dad was a life-long member of the 'Mersey Roads Club' !! This year its the 90th birthday of the club and later this month the famous 'Mersey Roads Club - 24 Hour Time Trial'' takes place - now not a lot of people know that !!!

Last night after supper we settled down and found a rather god film to watch “ War Horse ” from 2011 – produced and directed by Steven Spielberg – once you start watching it you have to see it to the end to find out what happens so I won’t tell you and spoil the outcome! It has a cast of hundreds with Jeremy Irvine,Emily Watson,Per Mullen,Niels Arestrup,Celine Buckers,David Thewlis,Tom Huddleston,Benedict Cumberbach and Toby Kerbel to name just a few! Don’t miss it!!

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
