A VERY HOT AND SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND;

FRIDAY 25th/JULY 2014.

I was up with the larks this morning as little princess ‘Reina’ was due with us for the day, she arrived a little later as I had missed a text message from Daniela saying she would be late! Never mind I watered the plants and took in the morning air at the same time; after lunch ‘Scruffy’ is arriving for his weekend sleep-over until Sunday morning.

Last night we had a very enjoyable evening out with Den & Josie down in Sabinillas at ‘La Casita’ – our first visit but it won’t be our last as you can see in the pictures below; they have been there before and they welcomed us as old customer’s, we had the special ‘Tapas Platter’ as recommended by the owner for three persons as it would have too much for four!

The selection includes cold classic dishes from ‘Russian salad’ (Not like mine!) to Octopus and all sorts of different hot ones, Black Pudding& other tasty dish’s on three skewers including Prawns then Chicken Curry and Braised Beef, Chorizo, a large dish of various fried fish including Calamari, small Sardines, Hake etc,- and they finally produced my favorite ‘ Tortillitas Camarones’ that you can spot in the pictures! For dessert we had the house ‘Crepes’ with Vanilla Ice Cream followed by coffee and complementary ‘Tapioca’ of the house sweet liquor!

A big ‘Thank You’ to Den & Josie for a very memorable evening.

This morning after breakfast we went for a short walk with 'Reina' along Calle Mar' - I carried on down to the market for some fresh flowers and Brenda came back to the house with the dog; on the way back Den & Josie where sat outside 'Bar Castillo' having their morning 'Tostado Con Tomate' and coffee.

Yesterday lunchtime Mano & Anna called in for a chat and gossip as we had not seen them for quiet a while; in the post we had a card from Stockholm from our friend Lillemor with an update as she visits all her family, she’s back for the ‘Vendimia Festival’ at the start of September. We like receiving cards –keep them coming!

This afternoon I will of course be watching the 19th stage of the ‘Tour De France’ from ‘ Maubourguet Pays du Val d’Adour to Bergerac’ – no mountains and a sprint finish.

Tonight’s supper before we go up to the ‘Brass Band Concert’- they are at the moment erecting the second stage at the end of ‘Calle Mar’ and putting the chairs out – is ‘Goujons of Hake Fillet’ with square Chips, Garden Peas and of course my Homemade Tartar sauce! Den & Josie are calling in later on their up to the concert for a cool ‘Half-way’ pit stop!

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
