WARM AND SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY;

TUESDAY 11th/ MARCH 2014.

We were up bright and early and after breakfast we shot across to ‘La Linea’ on the border with Gibraltar to go to the Traffic Department Office to pick up my new Spanish Driving License; we are very nearly there as they have issued me with a temporary one and the actual license come in the post in the next month – result! See the picture above of the ‘Rock’ on clear but grey day in Gibraltar.

We called into the hotel to see Mano on the way back as he has not had a day off for nearly a month since Anna came back from her ‘Jolly over in England and Wales – she was then ill, Sally Ann was also not well and then at the same time Carlos first caught Pneumonia then Measles! So him and Andy are carrying the hotel!

This afternoon we are back to the hospital past Marbella for Brenda’s final eye tests and then seeing the consultant; on the way back we are calling into the shopping mall above Marbella to pick up some essentials.

For supper tonight we are picking up for a nice change a whole Roast Chicken from the ‘Rotissiere’in Calle Mar that is run by ‘Maria Pollo’ Picture later of the ‘Rotisserie’ in action!

On TVE1 this evening it’s the ‘UEFA Champions League’ Round 16 as Athetico Madrid welcome Milan – the highlights of Bayern Munich v Arsenal are on later; then tomorrow Barcelona welcome Manchester City!
4-1 for Athetico Madrid - agg 5-1 !  1-1 at Bayern but agg 3-1 so Arsenal are out !!

Today is the start of the ‘Cheltenham Festival’- the highlight of the horse racing jump season – I will try and find some coverage on my ‘IT’ connections on the large PC for tomorrows and Thursdays racing sadly not to day as we are out!

Yesterday evening after our late supper we found a film on TVE2 (Spain’s BBC2!) called “Made in Dagenham” from 2010 about the woman car workers at the ‘Ford’ factory who went on strike back in the late 1960s for Equal Pay and as a result changed in time the rights all over the world for woman to be paid the same as men for the same job! Sally Hawkins, Geraldine James, Bob Hoskins, Kenneth Cranham, Miranda Richardson as ‘Barbara Castle’ John Sessions as ‘Harold Wilson’ the late Roger Lloyd-Pack and a large cast of great British actors tell the story as it happened!

Thought for the Day; See above.
