MANILVA THIS WEEKEND,

SATURDAY/SUNDAY 5TH/6TH FEBRUARY 2011.

After breakfast of Poached Eggs on toast we got the chores out of the way so as we could take in the great weather at the moment; the forecast is for more of the same for all of next week and getting warmer, the rest of Spain is now the same with warm sun and blue skies every day, the locals all along the Mediterranean coast are on the beaches and swimming in the sea, its gone from the ridiculous to the sublime in the last few days. On the TV the very comprehensive Province by Province forecast just show totally sun all over the country even in the North West Atlantic coast which is usually cold and damp; all the many Ski resorts are now bemoaning the lack of snow! During the morning Mano and Anna called in for a chat and gossip before he went off to bed; Brenda after a snack lunch went up on the roof terrace and stayed there for the rest of the day ! I meanwhile logged on to watch the English football on the PC. Every match was a cracker with lots of goals including good wins for Manchester City ( Tavez hatrick ) and an Everton win ( Saha hatrick ) which made Carlos and Brian happy ! The system that I use brings you the matches all live and full screen; I tend to watch the American Fox Sports Channel which is very good with English commentators and very good coverage, the half time adverts are great as they are American and give you another look at all things American! Meanwhile on Spanish television later in the evening the live match was Barcelona, who won with a Messi hatrick. On Friday evening I tried to get to watch the Six Nations Rugby with a little success and again on Saturday but will have to work on my connections a bit more – The England win over Wales in Cardiff on Friday was rather special and reminded us off when we went down over forty years ago before we were married to the same fixture at the old stadium; we stayed at “ The Three Salmons ” at Usk with a crowd of friends and had a “ Helluva ” weekend ! David and Jane went down to see the match at the Millenium Stadium amd made us very jealous with their comments and pictures on Facebook.The system that I have covers all sorts of the main sports and when we are able to get a new TV in the lounge I will be able to watch the sport in full screen, the current one does not have the right connections. In the evening we had Steak and chips for supper and then watched a film on TV.

We had a lie in on Sunday and then got our Sunday Roast ready; Chicken with Chestnut stuffing, Crispy Smoked Bacon,Cabbage,Carrots,Garden Peas, Whole Green Beans in Provencale sauce and Cauliflower Polanaise along with New and Duck Fat roasted Potatoes together with a thick Gravy ! Mano and Anna joined us later for another memorable dinner ! At lunchtime we went for a walk with Cheta and then had a drink up at Bar Rojas, sat outside in the warm sunshine, when we got back Brenda was out again on the terrace and I later on watched the Chelsea v Liverpool match live, it was a terrific win for Liverpool – “ King Kenny ”rules! The live Spanish match was Real Madrid who won with Ronaldo scoring two to keep up with Messi with goals scored in the Liga so far but Real are still seven points behind a rampant Barcelona. After Mano and Anna left we watched a good Nicholas Cage film to end another great weekend in Sunny Manilva !

Thought for the Day;

I’m kind of jealous of the life I’m supposedly leading.
