A NOW WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND.

FRIDAY 13th/ SEPTEMBER 2019 !

I was up very early this morning, just as well, as little ‘ Miss Bella’ arrived for her first three night sleep-over, earlier than expected, with us in Doggy World Heaven’ After a quick freshen up I shot off on my travels, down to Sabinillas, for our weekly shopping.

I first called into the main ‘Medical Centre’ to make an appointment to see our Doctor, Natalia, for a review/check up, on Monday the 23rd September, at the same time I got an appointment for Brenda, next Friday morning, early, for her Blood Tests etc, as she has her overdue appointment at the ‘Costa Del Sol Hospital’ on the 7th October with the ‘ Heart Consultant’!

I then called into ‘ ItZabar’ for my usual toast & tea before ‘ Mercadona’ opened, next week Kevin is away in the UK for his daughter’s wedding, so we will go to the ‘Nautilus Cafeteria Bar’ instead. ‘ Mercadona’ was back to normal after all the holiday crowds have gone home, as well as the local schools re-opening on Tuesday, I then popped along to the ‘ English Bookshop’ for the local newspapers, next I went along to the local Market, at the far end of the promenade, for our fresh flowers & wall plants, finally I stopped at the ‘ Repsol Garage’ to top up the petrol, before shooting back up the hill, through the vine fields to unload back at the house.

This morning has started a little grey & overcast, there is stiff breeze blowing, the sky is dark & cloudy, but the sun is attempting to break through, the ‘ Wet-Stuff’ is in the air, over the weekend we could be in for some moderate to heavy, much needed, ‘RAIN’ – but still hovering on the 25 degs+ mark! Higher up the coast, in the Alicante/Valencia region they have had severe rain storms and flooding!! Next week is now looking a little unsettled, with warm sunshine, at times,  reaching 27/28 degs, still overnight hovering on the 20/21 degs mark, as well as more of the ‘Wet-Stuff’ again, by next weekend, watch this space.

This afternoon we will be watching the ‘Horse Racing’ from the ‘ St Leger ‘ meeting at Doncaster, later we will catch the ‘Vuelta d’EspaƱa 19’ as ‘Stage 19’ goes from Avila to Toledo, over flat 163 kms, with a sprint finish.

At lunchtime I’m going to make the old classic ‘ A La Carte Flambe ‘ dish, “ Scampi Provencale “ starting with the “ ‘Provencale Sauce’ of diced Shallots & crushed Garlic, softened in warm Vegetable Oil, then seasoned with Salt & Pepper, then de-glazed with a good White Wine ( Brenda’s!) - with a large spoon of ‘Tomato Frito’- left to cook off, before adding a ‘Plumb Tomato Concasse’ – ( dropped in hot water then iced water, skinned & de-seeded, then diced!) – then simmered, this evening I will add the ‘Scampi’ to the warm ‘Provencale Sauce’ – to cook them off, just for a few minutes, to serve on a bed of Brenda’s famous ‘Basmati Rice, with some florets of Broccoli & finally sliced ‘ French’ Green Beans.

After supper we will as usual on a Friday evening, channel hop to find a good film to watch.
