A NOW WARM & SUNNY MANILVA AT THE START OF A ' HELLUVA' WEEK.

MONDAY 16th/ SEPTEMBER 2019.

We had a little lie in this morning after not a very good night’s sleep, it was a little warmer and my left arm/elbow was acting up and giving me ‘jip’! ‘Little’ Miss Bella’ started the night on our bed, on her back, with her legs in the air, then on ‘Reina’s duvet cover, under the bed and then back on the bed this morning! She was due to be picked up this morning, but it will now be later this afternoon, ‘Chispa’ called in later to say goodbye! ‘Scruffy’ is back with us in ‘ Doggy World Heaven’ on Thursday evening for a sleep over and will be collected later on Friday evening.

PS; We have just had a call from Lucy, to book ' Chico' in with us from Friday afternoon, for six days!

After freshening up Brenda took her out for her first walk of the day, I joined them, taking the rubbish down to the bins, before shooting down to the main ‘ Medical Centre’ to pick up some ‘ test tubes’ for Brenda’s blood tests etc, on Friday morning, which they didn’t give me the other day when I made the appointment. When I came back up to the village I popped along to the local ‘ Bank’ to pay our electricity bill.

This evening we are going down the local surgery for our re-arranged appointment with Carmen, the Council ‘Chiropodist’- on Thursday morning Brenda is going down on the local bus, to Sabinillas, to have her hair cut & styled by Annie, on Friday morning, early, Brenda has her Blood tests etc at the main ‘ Medical Centre’ I then will do our shopping as usual later.

‘ Calle Mar’ looks bare now that they have taken down all the canopy along the street, the  ‘ Council’ cherry-picker has now started to remove all the tension wires as well?!

See below a picture of the ‘ stripped & bare’ ‘ Calle Mar’ yesterday, as a local Bride, of a friend, Ana, walked down the street, in the traditional manner, to the ‘Iglesia Santa Ana Church’! Then a picture with her mother!

This morning has started very grey & overcast with black clouds, the air feels damp, as the breeze has picked up, by lunchtime it’s still going to reach 26 degs+ as the sun attempts to break through, now warm & sunny, - overnight going down a little, thankfully, to around the 17/18 degs mark by mid-week! The overall temperatures are hovering in the mid 20s, about normal for the time of the year, by Saturday the threat of the ‘ Wet-Stuff’ could return, along the East Mediterranean coast, around Valencia, Murcia & Almeria, last week, it was the worst rain storms and flooding in over 140 years! Next week is now looking more settled, with warm sunshine and a few patchy clouds, as the breeze drops, hovering in the mid 20s, watch this space.

Late yesterday evening we made contact on the ‘ Skype’ video with Sandra & Bill, over in Everett, Ontario, Canada, for a good catch up with all their news, Sandra is on the road to recovery, after her nasty bike accident, the black eye & bruises have gone and she is back in work, part-time, for now. They had just come back from their trailer in ‘Hope Bay’ – all the family are getting rather excited, as they plan their visit to sunny Manilva and the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ in two weeks time!

Their flight “ 106 Air Transat “ leaves Montreal at 8-40 pm on Saturday the 28th and arrives at Malaga Airport on Sunday the 29th at 9-53 am! Sandra & Bill are meeting up with some of the ‘ clan’ ( 4 ) in Toronto and then going by train to Montreal, meanwhile Lanner & Blake are catching a train from Ottawa to Montreal! They are then picking up the two cars at the Airport and will be with us by approx, 1-00 pm- ish! Watch this space!!

The only problem is that their grand villa on the ‘Manilva Beach’ complex is not ready until 4-00pm! We thought this could be the case so we were going to bring them all up to the village to have a ‘ Surprise’ Tapas & Paella ‘ lunch at ‘ Bar Castillo’ – sadly Juan & Paqui have gone on their annual holiday for three weeks!

So this Sunday we are going out on a ‘ Recce’ – down to Sabinillas, at lunchtime, to check out, first if the place’s we are thinking about are open! ( Sunday 29th September)  There are two ‘Fish’ restaurants on the promenade, then a very popular ‘ Tapas Restaurante’ in a small square, further along, and then a modern ‘ Chiringuito’ at the far end of the promenade, all looking out across the beach to the Mediterranean, finally there is very well established restaurant that we have used over many years ( 19 years!) – just on the edge of Sabinillas, that we have taken all the family & friends too, as well as Sandra & Bill last year!  Watch this space!!

“ Countdown 14 Days “

Just a very quick update on the sports results over the weekend; Everton lost 3-1 and did not play well, at the ‘Solheim Cup’ Europe beat the USA, on the final hole, with the final putt, to win 14.5  - 13.5! England won the final ‘ Ashes’ Test Match, by 135 runs, to draw the series 2-2!!

In Madrid ‘Slovenia’s’ Primoz Roglic won the Race Leaders ‘ Red Jersey, see below;

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Escalope’s of Chicken Breast ‘ coated in savoury breadcrumbs, shallow fried in Vegetable Oil, until crisp & golden, topped with ‘ Campo’ Fried Eggs, resting on a pool of a savoury Tomato Salsa, with lots of Lemon Wedges on the side,  served with finely sliced ‘ French’ Green Beans and thick-cut sliced Baked Potato, sautéed in foaming Parsley Butter.

Yesterday evening we watched the pen-ultimate episode of the excellent “ Peaky Blander “ – I won’t give the story away as the folks over in Canada are watching it also, but after we have seen it!

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
