A VERY WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY;

SATURDAY 16th / JULY 2016.

We all had a nice long lie in this morning as the village was very quiet, ‘ Reina’ goes to bed on her duvet in the office, with the fan on, just like us, and sleeps all night, this morning she was on the bed for a little while, she then went for a very short walk as she’s not into long, hot, walks! She is on a diet at the moment so she eats everything she is given on her controlled diet. We had a late breakfast of  ‘ Toasted Smoked Bacon Butties’ with mugs of tea, Brenda then watered the plants and did some ironing as I was watching ‘ Saturday Morning Kitchen Live’ on BBC 1.

Today is one of the Grand Festivals here in Spain “ Virgen Del Carmen “ – its the ‘ Fishermen’s Festival ‘ when the saints statues are paraded through the streets, led by the Manilva Brass Band, and then taken out to sea on a fishing boat, it all takes place in Castillo de la Duquesa, Puerto Duquesa & Sabinillas, in the early evening, it all gets very hot, loud, and very exciting.

Its started very warm & sunny this morning and will be getting very hot as the day goes on, some of our sunshine is due over in  ‘Southern England ‘over the weekend, we are now in for a prolonged spell of the hot weather for the rest of July & August, the forecast is for the mid- 40s, the hottest spell in many years, watch this space. See the spectacular picture below of ‘night time’ over the Liverpool waterfront.

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Grilled Entrecote Steak ‘ cooked on a very hot griddle plate ‘ Med-Rare ‘ – then left to rest before cutting it into slices ‘ French Style ‘ – garnished with sautéed Button Mushrooms with whole Green Beans & twice-cooked ‘ Frits on the side, accompanied with a sauce boat of ‘ Bearnaise Sauce’ On ‘ Saturday Kitchen Live’ this morning they did the very same dish, the only difference was that the ‘ Frits’ were deep frozen after blanching them, then finished in very hot vegetables oil ie; “ Triple-Cooked “ – ‘ Blumental Style’ !

Today’s  ‘ Stage 14 ‘ of the “ Tour De France “ is from Montelimar to Villars-Les-Dombes is over a hilly course, with a possible sprint finish, over 208 kms, see the route map below, yesterday’s ‘Time Trial’ was won by the favourite,  Dutch rider, Tom Dumoulin with Chris Froome second, he made more time on his rivals and is still in the Yellow Jersey. Watch this space.

The ' Manx Missile ' does it again, MARK CAVENDISH won today's stage,his 4th in this years Tour and the 30th overall!!

Sadly still no live show on ‘ Castle Radio FM 89.2 & Online on the WWW’ as the work on the new office/studio complex in Puerto Duquesa’ is still ongoing, they were testing the new transmitting system this morning when a ‘builder’ un-plugged the main connection and the station was off air, watch this space.

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
