A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY;

THURSDAY 21st / JULY 2016.

I was up first this morning to see ‘ Reina’ back with us for the day; we then got ourselves sorted after our regular breakfast of toast & tea, we have the shopping list ready for tomorrow morning, I’m going down to Sabinillas for our weekly shopping etc, Brenda is showering and washing her hair, later its my turn after ‘ Scruffy’ has been dropped off for a couple of hours as Adrian is going across to the Estepona Hospital for an X-Ray, this evenings as its the ‘ Chef’s & Staff ‘ night off we are going along to Bar Castillo for a ‘Tapas’ supper and then down to see the ‘ Tango Concert ‘ in the Cultural Centre ‘ Casa del Torres ‘

We are nearly back to normal for the time of the year, its very hot & sunny and will be getting hotter by the afternoon,the ' Levante Breeze' has dropped and the forecast for the weekend and next week is looking very good with it even getting warmer for the time of year, the mid 40s are coming!

Its all happening in sunny Manilva over the next couple of weeks, on Monday they are judging the ‘ Feria Queens’ and then on Tuesday its ‘ Verbena Sta.Ana Day’ – the patron saint of the village, there is a religious parade in the evening followed by two bands on stages in Calle Mar, in the morning they have children’s games along the street, then next Thursday there is another Music Concert in the Cultural Centre.

Next Saturday is the ‘ Notches Embrujo ‘ along Calle Mar, a candle lit night of wonder and excitement! Earlier this week there was a children’s ‘Dance Concert’ in the Theatre and last night down in the main square in Sabinillas there was a Band Concert performed by all the ‘Professor’s of the School of Music’ with our friend Isobel singing. See the posters above & below.

Today’s ‘Stage 18’ of the “ Tour De France “ is a very difficult and unusual ‘ Mountain Time Trial’ over 17kms from Sallanches to Megeve in the heart of the Alps, see the route map below, yesterday Chris Froome gained more time over his rivals on the very steep climb at the end of the stage and now has a strong grip on the race leader’s Yellow Jersey. Watch this space.

The other evening we watched over on Channel 4 ‘Child Genius ‘ – a ‘Quiz ‘ programme hosted by Richard Osman ( Pointless) – it was the second week with General Knowledge questions ( University Challenge, but harder!) and a fiendishly difficult Memory round about Railway Station over all the UK! All the young children are ‘Genius’s’ in various fields and are somewhat a little  ‘ Pretentious’ to say the least, one 11 year old boy ‘ Mog’ definitively  needs taking aside and given a good talking too!

The ‘ Parents’ are the ‘Stars’ of the programme; they are all extremely over the top, pushy, introvert, in some cases bullying, controlling etc, One mother with a young daughter and an older son refers to them as her ‘Brand’ and she is the ‘ Manager’  - she does not even feed them properly, they have to eat ‘Pizza’ on the go in between their training/promoting appointments!! Catch it, you will not believe what you see and hear!

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
