A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY;

SUNDAY 24th / JULY 2016.

We had a good long lie in this morning until the church bells started calling the ‘faithful’ to prayer & contemplation, Brenda was in charge of breakfast this morning so we had Fresh Orange Juice followed by ‘Campo’ Poached Eggs on Toast with mugs of steaming tea, the village is very quiet today as the week ahead is going to be rather busy, tomorrow its the Election of the ‘ Feria Queens’ then on Tuesday its ‘ Verbena Sta.Ana Day Festival’ – the patron saint of the village – with the religious procession in the early evening and then later the village goes mad with two bands on the stages with music, singing and dancing into the following day! ( A local Bank Holiday !)

On Saturday its the Festival ‘ Noche Embrujo - Witches Night ‘ when the main street is covered with scented leaves and candle lights, the main lights are turned off and all the trees and the walls of the house are flood lit with colored lights, on various small stages there are all sorts of music/singing performers, again into the wee small hours!

The sun was out early this morning after a very hot night, its going to be a very hot one today, the breeze has dropped and by lunchtime it will reach the high 30s, getting hotter as the day goes on, next week is forecast to be the hottest week in many years, possibly braking all the records, watch this space, see the picture below of the sun coming up over the beach down in Sabinillas this morning.

On the sports front today its the ‘ Hungarian Grand Prix ‘ with Lewis Hamilton on the second grid spot after Nico Rosberg stole the pole position from under the nose of Hamilton on the last lap of the qualifying chaotic wet/dry session. Then over in Paris on the ‘ Champs-Elysees’ Chris Froome’ is set to become the first Briton to win three ‘ Tour De France’ titles after safely negotiating a rain-soaked penultimate stage in the Alps, helped by his team mates on the final  treacherous  and slippery descent into Morzine. The Stage starts in Chantily and ends up in Paris 113 kms later, see the route map below.

For our supper this evening we are having ' Grilled Entrecote Steak ' cooked on a very hot griddle plate ' Med-Rare' - then left to 'res't before slicing it ' French ' style, garnished with sauteed Baby Mushrooms and on the side Whole Green Beans and of course some thrice-cooked ' Frits'

Last night after supper we channel hopped and watched nothing in particular until ‘QI’ with Stephen Fry came on with this week the letter ‘L’  At the moment as I’m typing & posting the Blog I’m listening to the ‘ Pete Black ‘ Request Show on Castle Radio FM 89.2 & Online on the WWW’  - he broadcasts ‘ Live’ from his Studio (2) in his apartment above the Duquesa Marina, watch this space for when ‘Studio 4’ comes back online from the heart of sunny Manilva with my Saturday ‘Sir Malcolm’s Classic Session’

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
