MANILVA YESTERDAY.

SATURDAY 10th/ NOVEMBER 2012.

More rain overnight but the sun is out and we are going for a walk later with dog; down at the football stadium it was the local teams seven- a side with Bar Vinagre in the red leading the Chi Chi Pom team based at Bodega Augustin 4-0 whilst on the other pitch it was the team that everyone likes to see beaten the Police Local against another Bar! At Plaza Pozo Del Rey they are now starting to cover the roof before they lay out the park and play area; the yellow boxes are being removed and they have created a honeycomb effect under the roof which saves on the concrete and weight – so they tell us! It is a little colder than normal but at least the sun is out and there is no wind; at lunchtime Anna called in and we persuaded her to stay for a little snack lunch, so we had a small portion of Fish, Chips and Peas with my homemade Tartare sauce from the extras left over from Friday night! In the afternoon instead of watching the football I managed to watch the Rugby Union Football live – the young England team beat the Fijian’s 54-12,Ireland just lost out to 12-16 with Sexton kicking the four Irish penalties ! Finally down in Cardiff at the Millennium Stadium Wales played terrible and lost to Argentina 12-26 !! Today Scotland play the All Blacks at Murryfield – Watch out the Scots ! The All Blacks won 22-51 !!

For supper we had Steak a la Plancha with fine sliced Green beans and Chips before we settled down to watch the Bond Films; “ Never Say Never Again ”from 1983 with Sean Connery, Kim Bassinger,Barbara Carrera,Rowan Atkinson and Edward Fox as ‘ M ’- a strange film not made by the usual producers so all different actor’s in the regular roles ! Then it was George Lazenby, the model, in his only 007 part in “ OHMSS ” with Diane Rigg ,Telly Savales and if you blink you will miss her – Joanha Lumley !

Later at night I have found on a small Spanish Channel a programme in English called “ Spain – On the Road Again ” which is about four presenters driving around Spain in an open top Mercedes in all the regions – eating and drinking as they visit all the sights !  They are surprisingly the Hollywood legend in the making Gwyneth Paltrow,who speaks perfect Spanish, Claudia Bassols who is well know Spanish TVactress,Mark Bittman a food writer from America and finally the larger-than-life Mario Batali who has thirteen restaurants, six cookbooks and host of television shows in the USA ! Catch it if you can as the food and sights are spectacular !

Thought for the Day;

No road is long with good company.
