MANILVA START OF THE WEEK.

MONDAY12th/ TUESDAY13th/ WEDNESDAY 14th/ NOVEMBER 2012.

The sun is out and the skies are blue-Hip Hip Hurray! Yes we are back to normal for a few days in sunny Manilva; we have even been able to sit out on the roof terrace in the afternoon and read before the sun goes down behind the hills above Sotogrande.On Monday Brenda in the morning shampooed the dog, then gave her a blow dry, then went up on the roof terrace where Cheta loves to lie in the sun on top of the emergency water tank ! Brenda is reading a ‘ James Patterson’ and I’ am just coming to the end of the third 50 Shades; we have sorted ourselves out for our trip to Sanluca De Barrameda on Saturday now that we know the weather forecast, sadly it’s rain so the waterproofs are out ! In the evening we had Minute Steak cooked rare, topped with an Egg and crisp Chips for supper before we settled down to watch a film; “ The Man Who would be King ”from 1975 with Sean Connery in the title role and Michael Caine – both overacting and also Shakira Caine,his wife in a small part – the tale is from a Rudyard Kipling short story.

On Tuesday we had a nice quite day pottering about the house and catching up with the chores; the dog was in and out as usual and Brenda was finding something to do- as usual! I caught up with the WWW. in the office and watched “ Saturday Morning Kitchen ”on the BBCIPlayer; I popped down to our butchers and picked up some Pork Cutlets for supper which we had with Lyonnaise Potatoes, Local Carrots and Green Beans. The film was a classic Michael Caine “ Funeral in Berlin ” from back in 1966 with him playing the character ‘ Harry Palmer ’It looks like we are in for a Caine season ! Later in the evening Tim gave us a call on the Skype Video after he had got back from a Golf Club tournament at his local club in Old Colwyn, where the main guest was the famous Welsh Bass- Baritone opera and concert singer Bryn Terfel, Tim was in fine form after a long day golfing and socializing at the 19th hole !

Today, Wednesday, it’s more of the same – weather wise; this morning I have just made a large pan of our famous ‘ Beef Stew ’- ‘ Scouse ’ by any other name for dinner tonight. We are going to watch the live International Friendly football, possible, on TVE1 if it makes it to the screen as today here in Spain as in other European countries it is a National strike and some of the TV Channels have been affected! Spain are playing Panama – on the PC I will be able to catch the England v Sweden game.Well Spain beat Panama 1-5 but the Match of the Day was the England game as they lost 4-2 to Sweden - the pitch in the new stadium was terrible but the game will be remembered forever by Zlatan Ibrahimovic's four goals for Sweden and especially for his last goal in injury time - a stunning overhead kick from 30 yards out and 6 foot in the air when he acrobatically volleyed Joe Hart's headed clearance ! It is being hailed as the greatest goal ever - it is !!! Check out the video. The 6ft 5ins forward has played at Ajax,Juventus,Inter and AC Milan,Barcelona and now at Paris St.Germain - see the picture above.
Later we watched a good film called " Garden of Stone " from 1987 with James Caan,James Earl Jones,Anjelica Houston,Dean Stockwell , D.B. Sweeny,Lairance Fishburne and Mary Stuart Masterson - it was produced and directed by Francis Ford Coppola -  get your hankies out for the ending !

Thoughts for the Day;

The nice thing about teamwork is that you always have others on your side; Teamwork divides the task and doubles the success !
