MANLVA THE " SISTERS VISIT,"

THURSDAY/FRIDAY/SATURDAY 20h/21st/22nd/ SEPTEMBER 2012. On Thursday morning we went across to Gibraltar to pick the girls up, it turned out to be one “ Helluva ” day as you will read ! Brenda went across as usual to meet the girls at customs and check that the flight was on time, she soon found out that there was a major problem at Gibraltar Airport control, the main radar system was not working, just and no flights could land due to the weather conditions ! Norah and Jenny’s plane was just coming into land and had to abort and go to land at Malaga !! It meant that they would have to be brought over to Gibraltar by bus and would not be there until 2-0pm approx. So we came back over to Manilva and on the way up to the village we called into to see Mano as on Tuesday evening he ended up in the Costa Del Sol hospital, unconscious after watching Real Madrid beat Manchester City 3-2 !! He was with Carlos and some other friends down in Sabinillas watching the game in a sports bar, as he was leaving he was knocked unconscious and can’t remember anything ! He is badly shaken up and bruised and cut all down the side on which he fell ! Enquiries are being made !! He will be off work for a short time and this is why Anna did not come with us to the airport as planned. When we returned to La Linea to collect the girls again at 2-00pm the news was not good, the airport authorities could not tell Brenda much and Jenny was texting us with updates; the buses had not arrived at Malaga and they had no more news. We went into the town centre and had some Tapas at “ La Bodeguiya ”which Brian had introduced us to the week before, we were going to take the sister’s there when they arrived ! We then went back to the border and waited, and waited and waited ! The girls had texted us to say that the bus had left, with them not on it, no room and that they were being sent by taxi instead !! They eventually arrived, six hours later at 5-00pm !!! The ‘ Easy Jet ’people at Malaga airport had totally lost the plot ! We came back to the house and made them their favourite cup of tea to get them back into the land of the living! Their last one was at 4-00am at the airport in Liverpool !! In the evening after freshening up we went out to the fish and chip shop past Sabinillas for supper; we all had the Haddock which was very tasty and the batter is to die for before we stopped at Puerto Duquesa for a night cap of coffee and Brandies to end a “ Helluva “ Day down here on the Costa Del Sol ! Friday morning after breakfast, the girl’s favourite is Weetabix, which we had got in especially for them, we shot across to Estepona; I first called into our bank and the went up to the car hypermarket to pick up some oil for the car, it’s a lot cheaper then the petrol station’s. We then parked and walked into the town for a coffee before the sister’s hit the shops; they bought bits and pieces as we went along the main street, Brenda found a nice top in the ‘ Cheap and Chic ’ shop and I bought another shirt in my favourite shop ‘ Baileys ’ Brenda also picked up her watch that had been in for repair before we ended up in the ‘ Flower Square ’ for lunch at our favourite restaurant, Brenda had the baby fried Sole again and we all had the pan fried breast of Chicken with chip and salad – sat under the umbrella as the sun came out and it warmed up. We came back to the house for a siesta and then had our early evening cocktails up on the roof terrace; we walked up to Bar Rojas for supper sat under the Sonbrajo in the cool night air, Brenda and Norah had a ‘Tortilla ’freshly made for them by Lumy with salad, Jenny fancied the Hamburger Special with frits, she finished it all and I had Pork Fillet a la Plancha with fried egg and frits – a little bit of what you fancy does you good ! We then retired to the house and I caught a late film with ‘ Arnie ! ’ This morning after breakfast I dropped the girls down in Puerto Duquesa as they were going to walk back to Sabinillas along the beach front, Brenda even had her new Bikini on ! Meanwhile I called into the English butchers and picked up some very nice Rib-Eye steaks for dinner tonight before coming back to the house to catch up with Blog,as you can see ! The hire car people picked up the car, we have it next week for two days on Wednesday and Thursday so we are going to have a day out in Marbella on the Wednesday and later pick our friend up Gillian from the bus station as she is returning from England, then it’s the airport at Gibraltar on Thursday morning, fingers crossed that everything is back to normal – watch this space ! Thought for the Day; Family is the most effective form of government. …
