MANILVA OVER THE WEEKEND.

SATURDAY/SUNDAY 15th/16th/ SEPTEMBER 2012.

The forecast for the weekend’s weather was hot and sunny reaching 33 degs by Sunday; it is carrying on into next week but by Thursday it is sadly going a little cooler for the arrival on Norah and Jenny! We had a nice day taking things easy on Saturday and at lunchtime we went up to Bar Rojas for a cool drink sat under the Sonbrajo; in the afternoon Brenda retired to the roof terrace to read and I caught up with football over in England on the large PC,Brian had fixed the sports channel last week, sadly both Liverpool and Manchester City could only draw their games 1-1 – later in the ‘ Liga ’here in Spain Barcelona had a good win at Getafe 4-1 but Real Madrid lost 1-0 at Seville and are now 10th in the ‘Liga ’Maurinho is not looking happy and Ronaldo is in one of his ‘ Ronaldo Sulks ’ Barcelona are top and in second place is our local ‘ Liga ’team Malaga ! On Tuesday it is the visit of Manchester City to Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions league – Real Madrid are not playing well and it is just the right time for City to get a result ! Come on the ‘ Blues ’ – Carlos and Mano are starting to get excited ! In the evening for supper we had rare ‘ Steak a la Plancha ’with Green Beans and crisp Chips before settling down to watch the TV.

Over the weekend we have had some good films to watch; “ Space Cowboys ” from 2000 was produced, directed and starred Clint Eastwood with James Garner, Donald Sutherland and Tommy Lee Jones all playing themselves as four ex-retired old test pilots sent into space on a mission to save the world ! Watch it to find out if they did !! Then we watched “ Firewall ”starring Harrison Ford in a 2006 thriller with the bad guy played by Paul Bettany, it gets rather exciting at the end and finally “ The Generals Daughter ” from 1999 which is a murder mystery based in an army camp and starring John Travolta,Madelaine Stowe and James Cromwell.

On Sunday morning after making the ‘ Boulangere ’potatoes we got ourselves ready slowly and went up to Bar Rojas for our ‘ Paella ’lunch; the folks from Manchester that we met on Saturday came along as we had recommended the ‘Paella ’to them, we should be on commission at Bar Rojas ! So we all sat down under the Sonbrajo in the lunchtime hot sunshine – 33 degs. Later we took another picture of the ‘ Bamford’s and Haslorm’s on the crossing as you can see in the picture below, I forgot to give them our details as they were leaving so as they can contact us next year when they are threatening to return ! i.e.; malcolm.sexton@googlemail.com and our phone numbers – mobile 628529975 and home 952890548 ! Just as they were going Mano and Anna came along and joined us as Mano had finished work early so we caught up with their news at the same time. In the evening we had our local Lamb Cutlets roasted on the potatoes for supper, they are rather small and not as meaty as ours but we make up for it with quantity – they are very tasty and the ‘ Boulangere ’Potatoes where to die for – even if a do say so myself !

Finally over the weekend we have been following the opening of ‘ TOSH ’over in Knutsford with interest, the place is all ready bouncing and as we spoke to Paul last evening as we were on the roof terrace – their best seller at the moment is the “ Cheshire Cheese Sausage ” that is pictured above ! There is a story and history about it that I will find out about when I next talk to David !

PS; “ The Tour of Britain ” which finished on Sunday after eight stages was won by ‘Jonathan Tieman-Locke ’who is the first British ride to win it in the last 19 years. Cavendish saved his energies at the end as next week it is the World Championships in Holland where he is the favourite to retain the ‘ Rainbow Jersey ’that he won last year but he still managed to win the final stage - his third of the Tour !

Thought or the Day;

Some people dream of success; while others wake up and work hard at it.
