MANILVA OVER THE WEEKEND.

SAURDAY/SUNDAY 8th/9th SEPTEMBER 2012.


BRIAN AND LILLI HERE IN SUNNY MANILVA DAY 13/14.



After a lie in we all freshened up and Brian and Lilli went out for the day to a friends house in Monte Duquesa ; we went for a walk with Cheta and ended up at Bar Rojas under the Sonbrajo for a cool drink taking in the sights, sounds and smells of sunny Manilva on yet another beautiful hot sunny day.

In the evening when the folks returned and after a siesta we went up on the roof terrace for our early evening cocktails and nibbles; for dinner it was ‘ Steak Night ’ at the best restaurant in the village –our house ! I had bought four large ‘Plancha ’steaks in the morning from our butcher – I dry pan fried them very quickly, rare, topped with a fried Egg, with Sauté Mushrooms and crisp Patatas Fritas accompanied with a Beef/Plum Tomato salad and we had to drink ‘ Torres Sangre De Toro ’ We retired to the settees felling no pain and ‘ Muy Contento ’to watch a little light night TV.

On Sunday morning we were up bright and early and got the Sunday Roast on the go, our first for quite awhile ! Roast Chicken with Sage and Herb stuffing,Cauiflower and Broccoli florets Mornay.Glazed Carrot batons, Cabbage with Alselgas,Garden Peas, New Potatoes and of course the famous ‘ Sexton ’Goose Fat Roast Potatoes along with my finger coating pan gravy ! Brain and Lilli waked down to the Sunday Market in the valley below the village for some holiday shopping as we freshened up and went up to Bar Rojas to meet them for a ‘Paella ’lunch; they returned shattered as they had walked back up the very steep road loaded with all sorts of things including three very nice plant pots, with plants, for our roof terrace ! After lunch they went down through the village on a bar hop with Brenda as I retired to watch the end of the Grand Prix from Italy – Hamilton won and the end of the Vuelta de Espana in Madrid,Contador won as you can see in the picture below with Valverde second and Rodriguez third.

Brenda had come back later in the afternoon but Brian and Lilli carried on with some friends and ended up back at their house/campo in the valley below the village milking the Goats ! They just about made it back in one piece for dinner after we had chased then up – Lilli was in fine form especially !! The end of another “ Helluva ” week in sunny Manilva – see the picture below of the ‘ Final Supper ’just about.

On Monday evening Brian and his ‘ Commis ’are preposing to take over the kitchen duties and prepare what he says is his ‘ Famous Fish Pie ’ The proof will be in the tasting !! Watch out for the full report and pictures !!!
