MONT ST MICHEL

Fri 27th Oct Cont.

At the base of the Mont there are lots of restaurants, eateries,
bars etc. but there is one very famous restaurant /hotel called
"Le Mere Poulard",named after Madame Poulard who was famous
for her omelette !! she created it as it was something she could
prepare day or night in her restaurant for the pilgrims.
In the entrance of Le Mere Poulard, Chevalliers in their red smocks
can be seen beating the omelette mixture in huge copper bowls but
they beat with a musical rhythm which is very catchy. The omelette is
then cooked over huge open wood fires in a wok style pan (with a handle
about 7 ft. long) for 20 minutes then flamed, all on display!! Very tempting !!
