A BREEZY & SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND;

FRIDAY 12th / AUGUST 2016.

I was up early this morning and after a quick freshen up I shot out on my travels, I first went down to the surgery to make an appointment for Brenda to see our Doctor for a check up; I then carried on down to Sabinillas for the weekly shopping, I called into the Wholesale Fruit & Vegetable Market for some fresh Asparagus, Baby New Potatoes in their skins, fresh local Carrots on the branch & fine Green Beans, next I was first into ‘ Mercadona’ for our main shop, I then walked along to the  ‘English Bookshop’ for a birthday card (? ) and the local newspapers. I then managed to park by the local market at the end of the promenade for the fresh flowers & wall plants before finally stopping at ‘ Super Sol ‘ for the English essentials.

‘Reina’ slept all night on her duvet and has eaten all her diet, she’s no problem, she has her own character and ways and keeps herself very much to herself at all times, this morning we had a very nice surprise as ‘ Chispa’ is back in ‘ Town ‘ She came calling later in the morning after returning from her holidays down at the family ‘ Campo’ – she’s was very excited to see us, she had been washed and had a new Red Collar with a bell on it, you could hear her coming up our street! Brenda has just taken her for a nice walk around the village, its very quiet in the mornings as they all go down to the ‘Feria’ ground and party into the wee small hours, the main parade is in Saturday evening so we are going along to ‘Bar Castillo’ for a ‘al fresco’ supper and then  will then watch the floats and bands go by.

This evening we are having for our supper a nice piece of Grilled Salmon Fillet for Brenda & I’m having a Grilled Fillet of Hake, with Garden Peas & the Baby New Potatoes in their skins, as we are out tomorrow night we are having our ‘ Steak Night’ on Sunday. Next week’s menu’s are TBC.

This morning its warm & sunny but there is a very pleasant stiff breeze coming off the Mediterranean making it very comfortable, later the new warm front from across Africa is due to come in and so over the weekend is will be a lot warmer with more sun, back to normal for this time of the year, next week is looking very hot and settled, watch this space.

After we returned form our  ‘Tapas’ supper at ‘ Bar Castillo’ last night I tuned the main PC into ‘ First Row Sports’ sports channel and we followed the Track Cycling from the  ‘Velodrome’ in Rio; the coverage is not the full ‘BBC TV’ programme with studio guests etc but shows the racing with the commentator’s coming at the main moments, it was very exciting as is first showed all the qualifying events.

The ‘4 x Men’s Pursuit Team’ with Sir Bradley Wiggins back in the saddle went through to the finals with the fastest time and the ‘4 x Ladies’ Pursuit Team’ also went through to the final’s also and at the same time smashed the World Record, it looks good for both teams for Gold in today’s finals later!

Then the high light of the racing was when  ‘ Great Britain ‘ set an  ‘Olympic’ record to win a third straight ‘Men’s Team Sprint ‘ Gold medal after a shock victory against the World Champions New Zealand, in this race there are three riders in the team over three laps against the clock and the opposing team, at the end of each lap one of the riders peels off, leaving one rider to sprint to the line, our team was new after Sir Chris Hoy retired after the last Olympics, Philip Hindes, Callum Skinner & the best sprinter Jason Kenny ( 3 Gold medals in past Olympics)  are the stars so far, watch this space.
