A VERY WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEK;

FRIDAY 3rd / JUNE 2016.

I was up first this morning and after ‘ Reina’ had been dropped off I shot down to Sabinillas for our weekly shopping, I called into our Bank for some cash and then collected the English newspapers from the Book Shop; I then did our main shop in ‘ Mercadona’ – we are starting to stock up for when the folks arrive; I then shot along to the local market at the end of the promenade for some fresh flowers, finally I called into ‘ Super Sol’ for our English essentials, I asked the Manager to order some goods that have not been in stock for a few weeks!

As I drove back up through the ever growing vine fields the sun was already hot, there is a little breeze today making it very pleasant, by this afternoon its due to reach 29 degs! The weekend is looking very hot & sunny and next week we have more of the same. When I arrived home ‘ Chispa’ was here for her breakfast, tomorrow night we have both ‘ Reina & Scruffy’ with us for a sleep over.

We went along to ' Bar Castillo ' for a light ' Tapas' lunch, Mano & Carlos came along and joined us for a quick beer, we had Liver cooked with Iberico Fat, Tomato Pasta topped with a Quails Egg and a slice of ' Belly Pork a la Plancha' with ' Frits'!

Tomorrow morning its the start of the ‘ Romeria de Manilva’  one of the main religious festivals at this time of the year, it all takes place down in the valley below the village where there is an old chapel, the village ‘Procession’ comes along Calle Mar in the morning. Over in Liverpool this weekend there is a sailing regatta of old ships as you can see in the picture below as they gather in the Albert Dock.

This afternoon our new electric oven is being delivered & installed, they are taking the old one away at the same time, at the moment the Council workmen are putting up new electric cables along our house on the same place they took then down last week?! Watch this space. They arrived on time and the new oven is installed & working, see below.

For this evenings supper we are having ‘ Goujons of Hake Fillet’ using fresh breadcrumbs from the local Bakery, Mushy Peas & twice-cooked ‘ Frits’ and of course fresh homemade ‘Tartar Sauce’ on the side with lots of Lemon Wedges; on Saturday we are having Grilled Fillet Steaks’ and then for Sunday I have bought ‘ Lamb Cutlets’ as we are going to try the new oven! ( Boulangere Potatoes )!! Watch this space.

Don’t forget to tune into tomorrow morning at 11-00 am to listen to my ‘ live’ show on ‘ Castle radio FM 89.2 & Online on the WWW’ – “ Sir Malcolm’s Classic Session “ broadcasting from Studio 1 in ‘Castillo de la Duquesa’ – I’m flying ‘solo’ at the Mixing Deck for the first time!!

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
