A VERY, VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY AT THE START OF TEN ' HELLUVA' DAYS!

MONDAY 13 th / JUNE 2016.

We were both up early this morning as ‘Mano’ was collecting me to go over to Marbella to pick up the hire car; it was ready & waiting when we arrived, they have upgraded it to a brand new ‘ Nissan e-NV200 ‘ People Carrier’ - White, Diesel, all the trimmings including Cruse Control & rear view Reversing Camera and of course a very good Air Conditioning system!  (At a very good and far cheaper rate ( 300 Euros less!)  than my usual hire car chap!)

Which is needed at the moment because today its due to reach 35/36 degs, 28 degs during the night! Its the hottest June on record and there is more to come over the next ten days while the folks are here, Blue Sky, Hot sunshine, a very little breeze making it just bearable here in sunny Manilva and down on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’  See the picture below of Liverpool last night looking out towards the Irish Sea.

Back at the house Brenda was getting the ‘Welcome Packs’ ready together with large beach towels, for the pool, at the hotel, after picking Brenda up we shot around to the hotel and put everything in their apartment , checked everything was all right including the fridge, Carlos has given us a very good staff/family rate ( 250 Euros less than 3 years ago!!) - which we thanked the owner Rafael for!

Yesterday afternoon we called into the ‘ Brasserie Arturo’ at the ‘Casares Golf Club’ for a nice cool glass of Cava before going to the ‘ Taste By Dirk’ Restaurante, see the picture above of the ‘ Brasserie’

At the restaurant we sat outside in the garden under a large umbrella as it was very hot , 34 degs only! The service is ‘OK’ with a little prompting - ‘ Dirks’ partner that ran the front of house left him a couple of months ago, so the girls are only just managing, we had the ‘Roast Lunch’ which was very good, Roast Pork with very good Crackling & all the trimmings for Brenda and I had the Roast Beef & Yorkshire Pudding, the Vegetables were ‘ Al Dente’ – the Roast Potatoes ‘ Crisp’ and the gravy finger-licking, ‘ Dirk’ brought our lunch to the table, the wines & drinks are priced reasonably, but the ‘ Starters & Desserts’ are very expensive! The entertainment was a very good Irish lady singer ‘ Mandy’ who happens to be one of my listeners, she has a ‘ Helluva’ voice and does requests so I asked her for a ‘ Ben E King ‘ number ‘ Under the Boardwalks’ We have booked a nice table under a ‘ Gazebos’ in the shade for next Sunday, I will then take some pictures for the Blog, watch this space.

This evening we are going along the coast road past the sparkling ‘Mediterranean’ to ‘ La Linea De La Concepcion ‘ and Brenda is going to walk across the Border, slowly,  to the Airport in Gibraltar, to welcome the folks to sunny Spain! I will wait by the ‘Border Crossing Point’ to pick them all up and come back to the ‘ Manilva Green Aparthotel’ here in sunny Manilva!!

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
