A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY;

SATURDAY 11th / JUNE 2016.

We just managed a little lie in this morning as I had to be up and ready to go down to the studio in ‘ Castillo de la Duquesa’ for my ‘ live ‘ show at 11-00 am – sadly Andrew rang me to say that he had a power cut during the night and the broadcasting system was not coming back online, so my programme had to be cancelled! Back next week and don’t forget to listen in to ‘Sir Malcolm’s Saturday Classic Session ‘!

For a treat I had a cooked breakfast of ‘ Campo’ Fried Eggs with Smoked Bacon, lots of buttered toast and mugs of steaming tea, Brenda had ‘Smoked Bacon Butty’ I then watched ‘ Saturday Kitchen Live’ before we both watched the ‘ Trooping of the Colours’  on the Horse Guards Parade’ in London for the ninetieth birthday of ‘HM Queen Elizabeth’

Brenda is in one of her ‘ ing’ modes, washing, drying, ironing, polishing, cleaning, dusting, watering etc, meanwhile I’m up in the office/studio on the WWW. At lunchtime I popped along to the local bank in ‘Calle Mar’ for some cash from the machine, on the way back I bumped into a lovely couple sat outside ‘Bar Ocana’ – at the moment ‘ Bar Castillo’ is closed over the weekend for painting inside, Vic & PJ have just moved into the area so we had a good chat, it turns out that Vic was the Bass Guitarist in a 70/80s glam-rock group ‘ Hello ‘ so I’m going to play a track for them on next week’s show ‘ New York Groove’!

Today its very hot & sunny here in sunny Manilva and down on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ but thankfully there is a nice breeze making it very pleasant and bearable, the rest of the weekend is staying the same and the forecast for next week is looking fine and settled with hot sunshine for the folks, we are ready, waiting and able, see below Sabinillas Beach this morning!

Tonight for our supper we are having a large ‘Entrecote Steak’ cooked on a very hot griddle plate ‘ Med-Rare’ – then left to rest before slicing it ‘ French Style’ and garnished with sautéed Button Mushrooms, whole Green Beans and twice-cooked ‘ Frits’ on the side with ‘ Bearnaise’ sauce. Tomorrow we are going out for our ‘ Sunday Roast Lunch’ – ‘a la fresco’ to the‘ Taste by Dirk’ Restaurante in the valley below the village, it has live entertainment and the reports have been very good, watch this space for the pictures and full report.

This weekend on the sports front its all happening; the ‘ European Football Championship’ has kicked off in France, they won last night and this afternoon and then this evening Wales & England are playing, Spain, the reining champions for the past two championships!! Its the ‘Grand Prix 0f Canada’ with Lewis Hamilton going for another win, meanwhile down in New Zealand the ‘ All Blacks’ beat Wales in the first ‘ Rugby Union ‘ Test match 39-21 but the result of the weekend was in Brisbane as England beat Australia 39-28 in the first test match in front of some of our Australian family, sorry Jeff!!

PS; Ireland have just beaten South Africa 26-20 in their first test match!

Last night we went up to the opening, before our supper, of the new ‘ Ice Cream Parlour & Tearoom ‘ Anna, Juan’s from Bar Castillo, daughter has made the place very nice, the ice cream & sundaes look very enticing, the tea served in mini-pots, and the homemade cakes also look rather nice, see the picture above.

We are taking things easy for the rest of the day and then tomorrow morning after showering we will dress up in our finest for our lunch out!

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
