A VERT HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF AN ' HELLUVA' WEEKEND.

FRIDAY 10th / JUNE 2016.

We were both up early again this morning and after ‘ Reina’ was dropped off we grabbed a quick cup of tea & a piece of toast before we shot off on our travel; the first call was at our Bank for some cash, next Brenda went into the ‘English Bookshop’  to post a birthday card (?!) and collect the local newspapers, Steve, the owner said he thought I had buried her under the patio! We then did a large shop in ‘ Mercadona’ before setting off to ‘ Iceland’ in Sotogrande, along the coast road, past a sparkling Mediterranean. We stocked up with all sorts of English ‘goodies’ before heading back to the local market at the far end of the promenade in Sabinillas for some wall plants and fresh flowers, we are now unpacking ( Brenda ! ) back at the house.

I then made some catch up phone calls; the ‘Car Hire’ company in Marbella to find out where the office is, Mano is taking me across on Monday morning, the Manilva Green Aparthotel to make the arrangements to drop of the ‘ Welcome Packs’ on Monday and the folks check in time, Andrew at ‘ Castle Radio FM 89.2 & Online on the WWW’ to plan my ‘live’ broadcast from ‘ Studio 1’ tomorrow morning at 11-00 am down in ‘ Castillo de la Duquesa’ and finally our house solicitor, Marjoliene, to check that she received the bill for the new oven and also get her to chase up the ‘Builders’ from next door to ‘make right’ all the outside walls after they have taken down the old cables & junction boxes and installed new & larger Black cables across the walls, they need painting White and all the holes filled in to make is as good as new, as it was before! Watch this space.

Today its very hot & sunny, by lunchtime its due to reach 29/30 degs but its still very pleasant as there is a nice light breeze making it comfortable, over the weekend its going a little cooler and next week is looking fine and settled with warm sunshine and clear Blue skies for when the folks arrive.

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Hake Fillets a la Meuniere’ with Baby New Potatoes in their skins and Garden Peas; tomorrow night its going to be a large ‘ Grilled Entrecote Steak’ cooked on a very hot griddle plate ‘ Med-Rare’ and the rested before slicing it ‘ French Style’ with ‘ Mangetout – Sugar Snap Peas ‘ and twice-cooled ‘ Frits’ On Sunday we are going out for lunch down to the ‘ Taste by Dirk ‘ Restaurante in the foot of the valley below the village opposite the ‘ Roman Oasis’  to try his ‘ Roasts’ and check out the place and entertainment, watch this space for the pictures and report!

Last night after supper we watched the final episode of “ Peaky Blinders’ on BBC 2 – it was very exciting & gripping with Kidnapping, Murder, Shootings & Stabbings, an Arms Train blown up and a robbery of ‘Russian’ jewellery including a ‘ Faberge Egg ‘ by digging a tunnel under a river and then blowing open the safe! Treachery and more killing followed as the jewellery was sold; finally the whole criminal family came together, at their country estate, to share the cash ‘ loot’- Brothers, Sisters, Aunts, Uncles & Cousins, Wives & Girlfriends and trusted assorted Gangsters & Villains – the ‘ Godfather ‘ of the family handed out the cash and in surprise ending they were all arrested, except him, by the local ‘Bobbies’ and taken away in the ‘Black Maria’s – Paddy Wagon’s’ ??!! There are two more new series to come later in the year!
