A WET & OVERCAST SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY:

SUNDAY 18 th OCTOBER 2015.

Just a little lie in this morning as Charlie came and jumped on the bed to tell us it was time for his morning walk, I took him down around the village and Brenda took Reina out locally just before the next lot of rain hit us! They are both being collected later.

We then treated ourselves to a old fashioned “ Bacon Butty” made with English thick-cut Back Bacon with a mug of strong “ PG Tips” tea!

It looks like the wet weather is with us for a few days at the start of the week,we can not complain as it is the first in over 8 months!

Last night I went over to the airport in Malaga to pick up Andy in his car, I started in heavy rain but by Estepona it had stopped,as we set off back there was a tremendous electrical storm with the largest fork lightening I have ever seen over the mountains in the distance which carried on for the next hour! See below;

Meanwhile Brenda back at home in sunny Manilva  was in the centre of it, it knocked out the TV system and the local streets were flooded; just outside Marbella we ran into the heaviest rain that I have ever seen, the “ N340” is already the most dangerous stretch of highway, especially at night, as there are no road lights due to the cuts,all the local Councils are in dispute with the “ Junta De Andalusia” as they say the Junta should pay not them for all the motorway lightening?! It has been going on for the last four years.

We hit flash flooding with all the storm drains blocked and at one time crossed a river that was flooding across the two lane carriageway which is enclosed on both side by concrete crash barriers! The most dangerous part was when mad outside lane drivers passed us ( 4x4s!) at high speed and sent huge plumes of water over us totally blinding us!!

We had two very severe/ exciting moments when I could not see anything,we were very lucky that I knew the  bends of the road and managed to control the car,some behind us were not so lucky! A stiff well earned Bacardi & Coke was called for when I returned to the house!!

We are having an at home day today taking things easy as we have a busy week,by our standards, next week; I have just made some more Braised Steak & Onions to go with the one I made yesterday as Andy is joining us for supper this evening.

On the sports front Liverpool managed a 0-0 draw at Spurs,Everton lost at home to Manchester Utd 0-3 and Manchester City beat Bournemouth 5-1! Over here Real Madrid won 3-0 and Barcelona won 5-2 with Neymar scoring 4!

This evening we are having some of my famous Sausage Tapas to start,for the main course with the Braised Steak we have Carrot & Turnip Batons,Cabbage with Alselgas,Cauliflower Florets in a three Cheese sauce and Garden Peas – Brenda·s famous Mashed Potato and “ Rissole” Potatoes made with local Baby New Potatoes in their skins!

For our dessert we have Apple Tort with fresh local Strawberries and Vanilla Ice Cream! All washed down with copious amounts of wine and drinks!!

Thought for the Day; See above.
