SUNNY BREEZY AND WARM MANILVA ON THURSDAY

THURSDAY 7th/ NOVEMBER 2013.

We had a nice lie in this morning and were awoken by the sound of whistles and shouting! It was the locals getting restless again!! It turned out to be a protest/demo by the local police outside the Town Hall chamber down by the Police Station – today it’s the monthly Council meeting so they have decorated the windows outside with posters and made their feelings known – low pay & conditions! See the picture above.

At the Council meeting today they are passing a new arrangement so as they can process all the papers and documents to do with cars registration/traffic documents here in the village at the Town Hall instead of having to go to Malaga which is a bit of a journey and also a nightmare to find the right office’s with very long queues when you get there!

Mano and Anna called in mid-morning as Mano has changed his shifts at the hotel; he now goes in at 12-00 mid-night and works through until 11-00am, six days a week, off on Monday! It means more hours which at these difficult times help them; he now goes to bed in the afternoon which also helps as it goes dark early in the evening!

This morning Andy called on the Skype video to ask if we would have his African Grey Parrott ‘Charlie’ next week when he is over in England, Maria is going over to Seville to stay with her family at the same time; no problem as he is no trouble and good company! We are also arranging to take Andy to Malaga airport on Saturday afternoon in his car and then look after it and pick him up the following Saturday late in the evening.

We have started to sort out things to welcome Tim back to sunny Manilva; he was one of our first guests after we found the house! Brenda has started on the guest bedroom and I’ve printed off the picture below to go in the picture frame in his room! We think we will be ‘Golf Widows’ as he is now a fanatical golfer since retiring, he has hooked up with a golf buddy from North Wales who lives below down on the coast, John Jones is also the local ‘Karaoke King’- he even does his Karaoke show at the local Golf Club! Mano has a very good set of clubs if he needs them and Carlos is also playing more golf now that Tom, his cousin is down here on the Costa Del Sol as a professional scratch golfer! So we will be lucky to see him especially if the weather stays like it is at the moment!!

Tonight for supper we are having ‘Chicken Schnitzels’ using the Fillets of Breast of Chicken from our butcher, I flour, egg wash and breadcrumb them, then they are pan fried in foaming Lemon Butter and served with Lemon wedges, finely sliced Green Beans, Mushroom wedges and dry sautéed sliced Baked Potato – on the side my rich and famous Tomato salsa !! Mine will probable end up with a fried Egg to top it off!

Last nights film was one that we had not seen before; “ North Country ”from 2005 – it is the story based on what actually happened in the USA in a coal mining community back in the 80s when women went to work in the mine, they faced years of sexual harassment before one of them played by the ‘Oscar’ winning actress Charlize Theron stands up for her rights and takes the company to court with the help of Woody Harrilson her solicitor! Frances McDormand,Sissy Spacek as her mother and Sean Bean totally miss-cast with a terrible American accent also stars! Don’t miss it; it’s a tear jerker right up to the end!

PS; BREAKING NEWS - A P McCOY this afternoon at Towcester Racecourse became a true " LEGEND " when he rode his 4000th winner on 'Mountain Tunes' for the trainer Jonjo O'Neil and owner J P McManus !! See the picture above !!

Thought for the Day; See above.
