SUNNY AND WARM MANILVA ON SUNDAY

SUNDAY 15th/ SEPTEMBER 2013.

We had a nice lie in this morning and awoke to the sun cracking the flag’s, again! After our tea and toast we set to and got tonight’s ‘Fish Pie’ on the go; I first make a White wine, Tarragon/Fish stock ‘Mirepoix’ with finely diced Onions,Leeks,Carotts,Mushrooms and Green Beans, at the same time I lightly poach the four sorts of fish in a ‘Court Bouillon’ and then cut the Prawns, Crab and Smoked Salmon up, it is then all gently mixed with a creamy Veloute sauce, meanwhile Brenda had made her famous Mashed Potatoes and tops the dish in rustic style ready for the Pie to go in the oven this evening! Broccoli and Cauliflower florets in a three- Cheese sauce and Baby Carrots and Garden Peas a la ‘Flamande’to accompany the Pie!See the picture above!

It was then time to freshen ourselves up and go for a walk and call into Bar Rojas for a cool drink sat under the Sonbrajo. At the moment I’ am also watching the ‘ San Morino Motor GP’ races on our big TV.Lorenzo won and Marquez was second again and still lead the the Championship.

This afternoon I will be watching the final stage of the’Vuelta 2013’as it goes from Leganes to the center of Madrid over the short distance of 110kms,see the relief map above of the flat stage across the high Sierra’s on which Madrid is found, the highest capital city in Europe!

The final stage of the " Vuelta 2013 " was won by the Australian rider Micheal Mathews and duly the American rider Chris Horner won the race and the RED jersey; he becomes the oldest ever 'Grand Tour' winner at the age of 41! The spectacular pictures of Madrid show the Royal Palace, the leaning Bank Towers, the four new Towers, the city and center of Madrid and the two football grounds,Real and Athetico Madrid!

Yesterday afternoon over in San Francisco in the ‘America’s Cup’ Oracle Team USA won the first race after Emirates Team New Zealand nearly capsized and then the second leg was abandoned because of the high winds ?! The re-run race was won by the team from New Zealand who now lead the series 7-1 Monday is a rest day and its back to the action tomorrow, they need to reach 9 wins to win the Cup!

This evening Mano and Anna are joining us for supper and then later we will catch the late film.

Thought for the Day; See above.
