MANILVA ON SUNDAY

SUNDAY 24th/ MARCH 2013.

On Sunday morning we were awoken by a very heavy and prolonged rain storm which then went to heavy showers with the sun out – hence the first procession of the ‘Semana Santa’ week having to be cancelled. The forecast is looking OK for this week, fingers crossed they should be able to get all the programme and processions taking place around the village. As we were getting our Sunday dinner on the go as you can see in the pictures below I was watching on the large screen TV the ‘Malaysian Grand Prix’ Vettel won after he overtook Webber when he was told by the team not to – naughty boy! Meanwhile Hamilton was third when Rosberg obeyed orders from the Mercedes team not to pass him - but in the end they should be able to race to win as the team orders rule is no longer the law! Racing is the name of the game!!

In the afternoon we watched the end of the ‘Tour of Cataluna’- Dan Martin hung on for the win around Barcelona as Wiggins could only manage 5th;over in Corsica in the two-day ‘Criterium International’ Froome won with a stunning solo ride up the ‘Col de L’Ospdale’ from his team mate Porte who was second.

After dinner, which was rather nice to say the least, even if I do say so myself, we settled down to watch the late films; first it was “Doubt”from 2008 which is a very deep and slow moving, no action religious story about a priest and nuns in a school, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Meryl Streep,Amy Adams and Viola Davies all won many nominations for awards for their acting and the film was also nominated – all sadly did not win any! From the sublime to the ridiculous – “ Sniper ” from 1993 a story about, you guessed, two snipers on an assassination mission in Panama with Tom Berenger and Billy Zane playing them! All action !

Thoughts for the Day;

Dreams and Dedication are a powerful combination.  I may not be there yet, but I’m closer than yesterday.
