MANILVA AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND

THURSDAY 21st/ FRIDAY 22nd/ MARCH 2013.

Thursday was a sunny day, in fact we went for our walk with dog later in the morning and did not need our jackets; I made a large pan of Chicken Curry, some to put in the deep freeze and the rest for tonight’s supper. In the afternoon after watching the cycle racing we started on two new books. After supper we caught up with news and weather and then channel hopped.

This morning we went down to Sabinillas for a quick shop and to pick up the papers, next week we are going to do the shopping on Wednesday as it is a bank holiday on Friday ( Semana Santa ) and it gets very busy on the Thursday morning as it is half-day closing. We picked up some more fresh flowers as the local market as it is also closed next Friday and I called into the surgery to make an appointment with the nurse for my blood and urine re-tests; the weather forecast is rain one day and sun the next but it is looking like the Semana Santa festivities next week and over the weekend are going to have it dry, clear and sunny for a change! Fingers crossed.

After coming back from our local butchers with our ‘Steak a la Plancha’ I made a new batch of ‘Minestrone’ soup from some of the Tomato salsa from yesterday, this time it has 16 different vegetables and pulses and has passed the ‘ Mano Taste test’ as they called in just I had finished it! This afternoon I will watch the fifth stage of the cycling which is from Rialp to Lleida over 157kms with a sprint finish.

Tonight we are going down to the congress centre at 8-00pm to watch the start of the Semana Santa festivities, it is taking place there as the church is closed for repairs; later after our supper of fresh ‘Gambas a la Plancha’ we will watch the football, Spain are playing Finland ( Sorry Lilli but they have no chance!) and England are in San Morino  for the FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches in the European Region, next week Spain are in France and England are in Montenegro, both on Tuesday – watch this space.

PS; England won 0-8 but Spain could only draw 1-1 with Finland - apology to Lilli - oh dear!

Thoughts for the Day;

There must be consistency in direction. The secret to success is constancy to purpose.
