SUNNY AND HOT MANILVA ON THURSDAY

THURSDAY 25th/ JULY 2013.

Last night as we were watching the evening news on TVE1 they started to report the terrible news about the train crash in Galicia in North West Spain out side the town of ‘Santiago de Compostela’ which is the religious capital of Spain and one of the most important Christian Pilgrimage sites in Europe; sadly the death toll has reached 80 with over a 140 injured, 36 seriously – the reports today on all the main TV channels are reporting that the train was late and was doing over 190km on the curve, which has a speed limit of 80kms! Today should have been the main festival in ‘Santiago de Compostela’- “ Dia de la Patria Galega y Dia del Apostol Santiago ” ( Galicia Day and the Apostle St, James’s Day ) but it was cancelled last night as the authorities realized how bad the crash was. Our thoughts go out to all the families.

This morning Brenda was not able to go down to the beach as planned as she is incapacitated with her back, last evening as she was going to bed it got worse and her own private ‘Masseur’ had to lay on the ointment! This means that her new ‘ Career’ as a painter and decorator is over before it even started!! She had her tea and toast in bed this morning and is taking things very easy all day, I’ve been on the vegetable shift for tonight’s supper – Baked Pork Chops with glazed Apple slices, Brettone Potatoes, Cabbage and glazed Carrot batons. Anna called in at lunchtime for a good gossip,Mano was in bed after his night shift, and it is his 60th birthday today – they are coming for supper on Sunday evening – “ Happy Birthday ” from us both – the card was hand delivered the other day!

This afternoon Brenda is retiring to bed and then we will have our ‘Happy Hour’ up on the newly painted roof terrace. After supper we will catch a film, last night we watched another episode of ‘Game of Thrones’

“ BLUESCAZORLA FESTIVAL 2013 ”

Last night later on TVE2 I watched another gig from the festival; I’ didn’t know what to expect as it was ‘Kitty, Daisy & Lewis ?! It turned out to be one ‘Helluva’ session – they are a three-piece young English band comprising the siblings of the Durham family. They play R&B,Swing,Jump Blues,Country and Western, blues,Hawainan,Blues and Rock n’ Roll !!

They are all multi-instrumentalists playing Guitar,Piano,Banjo,LapsteelGuitar,Harmonica,Double Bass,Trombone,Xylophone and Accordion between them ,oh yes and they all sing!! Kitty sings and plays a mean Harmonica, Daisy plays the Snare Drum sitting side-ways at it and Lewis on the Lapsteel guitar in un- believable ! They interchange instruments all the time and the wild one is Daisy who can’t keep still as she is playing – ‘Jump Blues’ was invented for her ! On stage tonight they had also a very old Rhythm Guitar player, sat down who was from Bombay India and a ‘Fat’ lady in bare feet playing the double Bass !! Honest!!

They have opened for Cold Play,Razorlight,Richard Hawley and Jools Holland; they have appeared regularly at the ‘Bestival’ and ‘Glastonbury’ – catch them soon as they ‘ROCK’ !!

Thought for the Day; See above.
