A VERY HOT AND SUNNY MANILVA & GIBRALTAR ON TUESDAY

TUESDAY 23rd/ JULY 2013.

This morning we have just got back from dropping [Literally) our friend Gillian off in La Linea to go across to the airport in Gibraltar; we have had a nightmare time in the very hot sunshine as there was a traffic jam on the left side of the through road to the airport, which is normally free flowing, the right hand lane with the ‘Snake’ into Gibraltar was at a standstill also! When we made it to final island it was closed to traffic by the ‘Guardia Civil’ and we had no option but to turn round and go back the way we came in! Gillian had to jump out on the island and cross the road and walk another 500yrds to get to the border; normally we can drop her off right outside! We hope she made her flight to Luton!!

Out on the roads it is very busy as it’s the height of the holiday season and everywhere is packed; we are not used to it, we normally have the ‘Quiet Life!’ in sunny Manilva !!

This afternoon, later, the painter and her assistant are going to attempt to finish the job on the roof terrace! We have the ‘Technology’ and are for hire, at the right price! The painters overalls are some what un-conventional - ' Bikini top and shorts' - but it works for me! One wall to finish tomorrow morning am before the sun gets up !!

Tonight I’ am making a ‘Rizotto’ made with a fine Spanish Grain rice; it’s going to be with ‘Tarragon Chicken and Broad Beans’ and finished with Parmesan cheese.Perfect even if I do say so myself! Then we will watch the news and weather, not that its necessary, its going to be very hot and sunny for the next two months, at least, anyway!

The late film last night was " Road House " from 1989 with Patrick Swayze,Sam Elliot,Kelly Lynch and Ben Gazzara as the bad guy in a movie about a tough club in south of the USA,the 'House Band' was the blind from birth Canadian 'Jeff Healey and his Band' Still going strong and rocking today!!

Thought for the Day; See above.
