SUNNY AND HOT MANILVA ON A SPORTS SUNDAY

SUNDAY 21st/ JULY 2013.

We started this morning with a nice lie in, it’s going to be another hot one today and the forecast for next week is more of the same and hotter; for breakfast we had fresh local Orange juice, Nectarine slices and tea and toast.

The picture above was taken this morning at ‘Bodnant Gardens’ in the Conwy valley in North Wales and shows the first ‘Blue Hydrangeas’ beginning to bloom along the river banks of the ‘Dell’

Today for our snack lunch I’ am making a ‘Campo Egg Tortilla’ – Spanish style with Potatoes and the addition of chopped Green Beans, along with Tomato salad; this evening we are having a little something special – griddled ‘Medallions of Pork Fillet’ with a three pepper sauce,Green.Red and Yellow ( My favorites) served on ‘Swiss Potato Rosti’ with fine Green Beans wrapped in Smoked Bacon and Baby whole Carrots – a feast for the eyes and the palate!

This afternoon Brenda is going up on the roof terrace to read and top up her colour; the painting adventure will start next week after we get the lid off the paint container, it will not come off as it should do and we don’t want to brake it ! Watch this space!!Problem solved - Mano and Anna have just called in so Mano went upstairs and got the lid off with a struggle - thanks !! Later this afternoon the painter ( Brenda) had a little practice run to try out her equipment and paint - result -OK!

SPORTS UPDATE;

It’s all happening today;

The Open Golf Championship – the final round at Muirfield with Lee Westwood going for his first ‘Major’ – watch out there’s a ‘Tiger’ lurking around!!Phil Mickelson from the USA has just won the 'Open' by 3 shots after a final round of 66!

The Second Ashes Test at Lord’s – England are in line for a crushing win over the ‘Aussies!’England declared on 349-7 and have set Australia 583 to win! England have just won the second test by 347 and are now 2-0 up in the series.

Motor GP from the ‘Laguna Seca’circuit in California – later this evening from the dangerous and demanding circuit the German rider Bradl will be trying for his first win with the young Marquez right behind him.Marquez won after passing Rossi at the top of the corkscrew and then Bradl - it is his first time at the circuit!!

And finally;

The final stage of the 100th ‘Tour de France’ It is an evening showdown on a circuit around the center of Paris – over 134kms. Mark Cavendish is going for his 5th win on the final stage, he’s won the last 4 over 2009/12 ! The race is starting at the ‘Palace de Versailles’ and for the very first time in the history of the race it’s going around the ‘Arc De Triomphe’ on the ‘Place De Etoile’ !!

Sadly Mark Cavendish hit a bump in the cobbles as he sprinted along the 'Champs-Elysees' and was shot into the air,lost his momentum and could only fish 3rd behind the two Germans,Kittel 1st and Greipel 2nd;

CHRIS FROOME IS THE WINNER OF THE 100TH TOUR DE FRANCE 2013 !!

PS; Some spectacular pictures of Paris from the helicopter to be posted later;

After all that we will catch a film to finish off a ‘Helluva’ day !
