MANILVA THIS WEEK.

TUESDAY/FRIDAY 7th/ 19th FEBRUARY 2012.

We have had a quiet week at home just pottering about the house; one day Brenda even ended up on the roof terrace in the afternoon in her bikini! The weather remains the same with clear blue skies and sunshine – I was reading a book this week that is centered on the Costa Del Sol and the quote in one chapter was from the eminent travel writer Jan Morris, who we met many years ago, but that is another story in itself ! It described Andalusia as ‘ Sol y Somba ’ – ‘ Sun on one side of the street, shadow on the other ’ and this is so true at the moment especially as the cold snap is still around. Every day we are out in the morning for our walk with Cheta and as you can see in the pictures below we have even found a stationery shop ! The work on the Plaza Pozo del Rey has started in earnest so it will be interesting to follow it and see how it goes on; Watch this space. Meanwhile Brian and Lilli are over with his family in Liverpool and Runcorn for a week, his sister Claire is now four days overdue with her baby – come on Claire - Push ! While they are over in England they are going to see David and Jane at the ‘ Lord Binning ’on Valentines night as it is just down the road from Runcorn,we are very envious !

On Wednesday morning I made Braised Steak and Onions for dinner which we had with local boiled potatoes and Cabbage – comfort food for the gods ! Mano and Anna called in on Thursday morning to catch up with the local news and gossip,Mano is working in their garden everyday and is starting to get on top of it, watch out for the pictures as it has spectacular views down to the coast.

Today we went down to do the shopping and got a lift from a nice English lady who had just dropped her kids off at school, we called to get some Baby New Potatoes and found at the same time some fresh Parsnips which will go very nice on Sunday with the roast; we treating ourselves to the Rib of Beef,from Xmas, that we saved for another day ! We have also planned our Valentines menu – just to say that Breast of Chicken and Local Prawns are on the menu – together – watch this space as all will be revealed ! Tonight it is Fillet of Salmon Tails in foaming Lime Butter with New Potatoes and Garden Peas for supper.

PS; Claire gave birth to Ebony Louise at 18-25 today,mother and baby fine - One " Helluva " Baby 9lb 2oz !! Congratulations.

Thought for the Day;

Our attitude toward life determines life’s attitude towards us.
