MANILVA OVER THE WEEKEND.

SATURDAY/SUNDAY 11TH/12TH FEBRUARY 2012.

On Saturday morning after breakfast we had an at home day, Brenda put the washing out to dry as the forecast for the weekend and into next week is sun and clear skies but a little breeze; late on Friday afternoon the new Blackberry phone arrived by courier so it is on charge and I will be able to set it up on Monday when it comes online. In the afternoon I watched the Rugby on the PC on the new sports channel that I have now in use; England scrapped a victory in Italy 15-19 with the new team on show; the lunchtime game in England was Manchester Utd. v Liverpool, Utd, won 2-1 with Rooney scoring both goals and Brian’s Everton beat Chelsea 2-0 ! In the evening it was the turn of the Spanish football and sadly Barcelona lost at Osasuna 3-2 and with Real Madrid winning on Sunday at home against Levante 4-2 it means that they are now ten points behind Real in La Liga ! For supper we had flattened Steak with crushed Black Peppercorns and all the trimmings along with crisp chips before settling down to watch the TV.

After a little lie in on Sunday morning we then got the roast ready; Rib of Beef with Yorkshire pudding, finger licking gravy and Brenda’s vegetables, Cabbage with Alselgas, crushed Carrot and Baby Turnip, Garden Peas, Baby Sprouts and Parsnip chips along with Baby New Potatoes and Tarragon Roast Potatoes. We found the Parsnips down in Sabinillas where we get the Baby New Potatoes from, they are cut into small chips, part boiled and then cooked in Sunflower Oil with a touch of Butter – delicious ! Mano and Anna called in with Fabio at lunchtime; they checked out the new Blackberry as all the details etc. are only in Spanish so they are going to help to set it up on Monday and give me some hints ! We had saved all the little toys from the executive Xmas Crackers for Fabio so he had great fun playing with them especially with a very small Basketball game that flips a small ball into the basket, he scored twenty times including a hatrick and was dancing around the room celebrating !Later I watched the Rugby from the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff,Wales beat Scotland 27-13 and in the second half totally outplayed and outclassed the Scots. In the evening Mano and Anna joined us for dinner, the Rib of Beef was pink and I carved it cold and we had another memorable meal, afterwards we sat and watched the Spanish version of the ‘ Million Pound Drop ’ with them, it started last week and on Saturday when we watched it we got a question right, about regional Bread ! Last night with Mano and Anna here we were able to understand more questions and we all got most of then right up to the end; the last question was for 325,000 euros and was what the password for the American troops was on D-Day ? The two options were Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck and the two contestants choose Donald Duck, as we did, it was wrong, it was Mickey Mouse ! I think on the last question you can only choose one answer so they lost the 325.000 and looked stunned and could not speak, up to then they had played very well and on four occasions put the whole million euros on one answer !!

Thought for the Day;

Wisdom consists of the anticipation of consequences.
