MANILVA TODAY.

SATURDAY 24th DECEMBER 2011.

As I have been posting the blog Brenda was out walking the dog and spotted the ‘Xmas Pastoral Group’ warming up; I shot out with my slippers on and caught them as they passed along Calle Mar at the top of our street and took the pictures above – talk about hot off the press!

The folk music of the Pastoral group are heard all over the festive period, their self-penned songs reflect the lives of the local people as families, friends and neighbours get together; traditionally some members of the choir play tambourines and ‘ Zambomba ’water drums as well as an ‘ Anis ’bottle as you can see. The words ‘ Festive Cheer ’spring to mind as it adds to the atmosphere in the village. The drum’s lay down a thumping beat as the Anis bottles are scrapped and the tambourines rattled and the choir sings happy songs !! Long live Manilva.

PS; The group has just returned to Calle Mar outside Bar Rojas and have retired for a well deserved drink !!

PPS; Not a good day on the home front, the TV black box has gone on the blink-so no TV as the TV engineer, who came within the hour, was not able to fix it and of course the shops were shut by then ! The new mixer tap in the kitchen on the double sinks is acting up ie; no hot water and no plumber is available and finally the dishwasher ( Not Brenda ! ) will not empty !! They say it comes in three's !!!
