MANILVA START TO A " HELLUVA " WEEK.

MONDAY/TUESDAY 19th/20th DECEMBER 2011.

After our tea and toast we went out for a walk with Cheta and then dropped her at the vets for her Xmas shampoo and set; the weather forecast for this week and over the Xmas weekend is looking good, it is getting warmer, back up to 20 degs and the breeze has gone, the sun and blue skies which have been there all the time are continuing, this morning we have been sat down at the Mirador at the entrance to the village and it was hot! On the TV at the moment, on all the channels, the news is all about the new government, yesterday the new president elect, who will be inaugurated by the King on Wednesday, gave his first speech to the House of Deputies –The Parliament – laying out his plans for the next four years to get Spain out of the mess that it is in! The only good news at the moment is that the Euro against the pound is at its highest this year after David Cameron told the Germans and French where to go!
In the evening after supper, Pork Cutlets with Boulangere Potatoes, we settled down to watch the late film; it was another one with Harrison Ford in the main role “Air Force One” He is the president of the USA and the ‘Baddie’ is Gary Oldman; he takes over the plane and Harrison Ford eventually wins- it is a Harrison Ford week of films! All the films that we watch are mostly in Spanish but we are getting better at following them, it helps that we have seen them all before!!

Today it is another gorgeous day; as we were sat down at the Mirador Mano and Anna came along in their car and stopped, Anna’s cousin Debbie and her husband Dave have come over for five days and are staying with them; we met then last time they were here with their son Tom so we had some news catching up to do as we sat in Bodega Augustine for a coffee; the outcome was that they are all coming around for dinner tomorrow night so we have got to get ourselves together, we are going to have a small selection of Tapas to start, followed by Roast Chicken with all the trimmings and Brenda’s famous vegetables and for ‘ Pud ’we have just made individual Madeira and Peach Trifle, Custard to go on later and the whipped cream and toppings tomorrow ! Mano and Dave have just dropped the Chickens off and a very nice presentation box of two bottles of ‘ Freixenet Cordon Negro Reserva Cava ’We already had one bottle of the same so we are going to have a “ Helluva ” lot of ‘ Kir Royal ’ to start ! We have a large box of executive Crackers so it’s going to be a bit of a ‘Do’ Watch out for the pictures. Tonight we are having Sausage, Eggs and Chips for supper – comfort food for the gods!

The picture below shows the full Manilva Brass Band in all is glory; the Xmas concert is on Friday evening in the Santa Ana Church at 8-00pm so we have arranged to go for supper to Bar Rojas afterwards, Lumy is going to prepare ‘Gallo Frito’ – John Dory in Tempura Batter for us; also tomorrow the new Xmas market is set to open in Calle Mar.

Thought for the Day;

If a man points at the moon, an idiot will look at his finger.
