MANILVA LAST NIGHT.

FRIDAY 23rd DECEMBER 2011.

Yet another glorious day down here in sunny Manilva as we set off again on the bus, for the second day running, with it all to our selves! We finished all the shopping and were soon backing in the house unpacking; Cheta came charging in through the shutters as normal, she does it with one flick! So we then walked down to the local market and ordered the large bag of potatoes, they dropped it off later on the scooter, we also bought some lovely fresh Strawberries and Asparagus together with our fourth Poinsettia ! The Xmas market in Calle Mar is still going strong and has added to the atmosphere in the village; in the afternoon I caught up on the BBCIPlayer with the nights before ‘BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2011 ’Mark Cavendish won – the correct result after the best ever year by a British Cyclist by far when he won the World Championship Road Race.

In the evening we walked down to the ‘ Iglesia Santa Ana Church ’ to watch and listen to the Xmas concert performed by the ‘ Manilva Municipal Brass Band’ led by Fernando Antinolo with the choir of the church and the children of friends of the School of Music; The pictures are all above showing the band and choirs in full flow, this year they played and sang a couple of new numbers as well as the old favorites,’ The Blue Danube ’by Johann Strauss 11 and Handel’s ‘ Hallelujah ’ standing out as the ones to be remembered and they finished with the traditional ‘ Marcha Radetzky ’by Johann Strauss 1 – The Clapping Song !! The Gold Medal given to our friend Paco was also at at the same time given to some other people who were the founding members of the band and played together for the first time at Xmas 15 years ago !

We then retired up to bar Rojas where Lumy had our supper ready; Gallo Frito with salad for Brenda, John Dory in Tempura Batter, and for me Carne Mechada with Patatas Fritas, cold sliced cured Pork Rump with chips ! Another memorable day down here in sunny Manilva.

Thought for the Day;

I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.
