A VERY HOT AND SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY;

SUNDAY 8th/ JUNE 2014.

We started the day with a nice lie in; it’s going to be a very hot one as the forecast is for 33degs or more! After our morning ‘Cuppa’ and toast we had our regular menu planning meeting for the week ahead, details later as our first job this morning is some painting, I’am the painters ‘Mate’ so I’ve cleared away, dusted and prepared the surfaces, got the brushes and sticks (For stirring!) ready, found the right matching colour and even made a couple of suggestions! When the painters were here they scraped and treated some damp spots in our lounge/parlor/dining room so now the ‘Head Painter & Decorator’ – she who must be obeyed is at work!!

I’ve just checked how the job is going on, a second coat will be called for later and then a ‘Personal Massage’ for the Head Painter will be administered followed by a nice shower!

So no roasting today, we are having a nice change for tonight’s supper “Grilled Gammon Steaks” topped with glazed fresh Pineapple slices and a ‘Campo’ fried Egg! Parsley New Potatoes and Garden Peas with of course a bottle of ‘HP’ sauce on the table! Tomorrow night we are having ‘Medallions of Pork Fillet’ cooked on the griddle plate with a sharp/piquant ‘Charcutiere’ sauce on the side, then on Tuesday it will be ‘Pork Schitzels’with Spaghetti and my rich Tomato salsa; Wednesday’s ‘Dish of the Week’ is going to be a “Chicken & Mushroom Tarragon Casserole” Thursday will be an Omelet of choice and Friday is our ‘Fish Supper!’

At lunchtime we will go for a little walk with the dog,as you can see in the pictures above we could not resist the smell of the 'Spit Roasted Chicken's' so Marie 'Chicken' very kindly cut one in half for us- they are all ordered for later!! A nice Mixed Salad with some of tonight's just cooked New Potatoes  for lunch - you can't beat that for local and fresh!

We will then settle down to watch the ‘French Open Tennis’ final from Paris as the ‘King of Clay’ Nadel takes on Djokovic,later it’s the ‘Canadian Grand Prix from Montreal then after our supper tonight’s ‘Blockbuster Movie’ is we think “ The Expendables 2 ”from 2012 with wait for it – Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li,Dolph Lundgren, Chuck Norris, Jean- Claude Van Damme,Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger – so it’s not a romantic comedy then !!

Nadel won his 9th 'French Open' title and a record 5th in succession after a very hard match !

Yesterday we had a nice reply to a ‘Facebook’ message I sent to our old dear friend and customer Nigel Roberts, the newsagent over in Llandudno, thanks for your very kind comments and good wishes ,the same to you; at the same time another very old friend and customer from the good old days of the ‘Hotel Seventy Degrees’ added a another nice message – Bryan George – now there’s a name from the past – thanks Bryan!

PS; The Gammon Steak was very,very good - so good in fact that we will have to go back for some more - a return journey of over 150kms to 'Alhaurin el Grande'- what we do for excellence !!

 Thoughts for the Day; See above.
