SUNNY MANILVA AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND

FRIDAY 24th/ MAY 2013.

As usual on a Friday morning we were up bright and early and shot down to Sabinillas for the shopping; I called into the bank and then we went to ‘Mercadona’ and finally to the English bookshop for the papers, the work in Bank Street is starting to take shape as you can see in the pictures above, after dropping off the goods we walked around the village with dog to the local market for some fresh flowers. It was the ‘Schools Sports Day’ at the Football Stadium for the Junior School as you can see, on the way we called into the ‘Pensioners Club’ that it being refurbished, inside and out, and no we are not members – yet!! At the new car park and play area in ‘Plaza Pozo Del Rey’ the railings are starting to go up and the Mural in the new ‘Plaza Vendimia’ is looking finished for now, we think that there are going to be more on the rest of the wall – watch this space.

At lunchtime we treated ourselves to a light Tapas lunch and drinks up at Bar Rojas as it is hot again today, yesterday it reached 30degs and today, out of the breeze it is 26 degs! – the weekend and into next week is also fine.

This afternoon I was going to follow the ‘Giro d’Italai’ stage 19 from Ponte di Legno to Val Martello in the Dolomites over 139kms but it has been cancelled due to the heavy snow and temperatures below -20c! Tomorrow stage 20 has been re-routed and two of the great climbs over the ‘Gavia and Stervio’ pass’s that were the high spot of the tour -  2783m have been dropped, so the route now, at the moment, is from Silandro to Tre Cime di Lavaredo over 203kms!

This morning our TV would not turn on, new batteries in the remote did not work so we are waiting for the engineer to come early this evening; also my mobile will not connect to the Wi-Fi so Peter is going to call in over the weekend to have a look.

Tonight for supper we are having some Griddled Fillets of Pink Trout with Hollandaise sauce, Garden Peas and ‘Bretonne’ Potatoes that I made this morning; it is then Friday ‘Movie’ night so we will find something to watch, hopefully, as the last two nights the films have been ‘Dogs! ‘That is if the TV has been sorted!!

PS; The TV engineer did not arrive so it was back to the good old radio for the evening; later I retired to the office and watched on the PC on my live TV channel BBC 1 - first 'Have I got News for you' then the 'News' and after 'The Graham Norton Show' !

PPS; He has just arrived this morning,Saturday, and fixed it in a five seconds by un-plugging it !! Then plugging it in again !!!

Thought for the Day;

Life is like photography. You need the negatives to develop.
