MANILVA MUSIC CONCERT FRIDAY.

FRIDAY 22nd JULY 2011.

Last nights concert on the stage in Calle Mar once again brought out the crowds; the village was buzzing and the five main bars on the street were packed, after our early fish supper we walked up to Bar Rojas to get the evening on the go. We then walked along to Bar Ocana and managed to get a seat with some Spanish friends as it was packed with all the local dignities and councilors with their families and us of course in the middle of all of them ! The music started at 10-30pm and the name of the band was “The Botetera Orchestra”which sounded very grand and they were! It was in fact made up of just four very talented and professional musicians on Guitar. Bass Guitar, Piano/Organ and Drums; they played all the popular currant Spanish songs which all the audience can sing along to and clap with at the same time so the atmosphere was electric from the start. The sound that they produced was excellent as they had a long sound check before the concert started; the main singer had a fabulous voice and the rest of the group harmonized very well, they did one number when each of them did a solo on their instruments which went down very well and at the end of the show they got a long standing ovation.Fernando, the Director of the School of Music and Isobel the singer both agreed that they were true professionals and very good! We then strolled back along Calle Mar in the cool night air and stopped at Bar Rojas for a nightcap, on the next table to us Lucy who works in the Culture Department at the Town Hall ordered a Lumy ‘Special’ Hamburger, I ended up having a plate of Patatas Frits as we sat and took in the night time sounds before walking back to our house, we wonder what Sunday nights concert will bring ?! The pictures below show “ The Botetera Orchestra ” as they performed to the crowds.
