SUNDAY IN SUNNY MANILVA AND SABINILLAS

SUNDAY 23rd/ JUNE 2013.

We had a little lie in on Sunday morning after one ‘Helluva’ day; after freshening ourselves up we went and collect the folks and went down to the Sunday Market at the ‘Rastro’ in the bottom of the valley. We then shot along to ‘Puerto de Duquesa’ and had our first drink of the day( Tinto Verano’s) sat by the side of the marina taking in the views; suddenly all hell broke loose as the ‘Ferrari Owners Club’ arrived in style! I couldn’t resist taking some pictures as you can see!!

It was then time to come back up to the village to ‘Bar Rojas’ for our Paella lunch,Lumy had made a special one for us as you can see in the picture above, it was rather nice and it made Jack and Lyn’s day! Mano came along and joined us for a drink and our friend Gillian joined us for lunch; it was a glorious day with the hot sun and a little cool breeze at the same time, our favorite time of the year!Lumy at the end of the meal produced a surprise Birthday cake,Brenda;s third of the weekend.

In the evening a shot along to ‘Marlow’s’ for our ‘Haddock, Chips and Mushy Peas’ which we had from the paper – it’s another mmmmmmmmmm! It was then time to go down to Sabinillas to see the ‘Notche San Juan’ celebrations; it was very packed and the busiest we have seen it in years, with hundreds of thousands of people packed onto the promenades and square to watch and listen to the live music, which was very good, so busy that I could not find any where to park after dropping off the gang and ended up having to walk a long way back up the hill to find somewhere!

We found a spot on the beach front to watch the tableau being set on fire at midnight, some friends, John and Wendy from North Wales came along and joined us, so we had a good catch-up chat and gossip; the picture shows the Tableau at the height of the fire but sadly no fireworks as they were too far away along the coast as the council could not get a licensee from the government this year to have them on the beach in front of the masses!Even our local Manilva TV had a problem catching then in the distance!!

I then had to ‘Hike’ back up the hill to get the car and come down to pick the folks up – another ‘Helluva’ Day.

Thought for the Day; See above.
